FRIDAY - SEPTEMBER 19, 2008

CHAOS REMAINS IN THE SOUTH TEXAS AREA AS MANY PEOPLE HAVE NO POWER AND SOME HAVE NO WATER. I DO NOT BELIEVE THE AUTHORITIES KNOW HOW MANY ARE DEAD AND EVEN IF THEY KNEW THEY WOULD NOT TELL YOU.

ITS POLITICAL BS AS USUAL AND THE POOR PEOPLE ARE SUFFERING. I HAVE LOANED OUT BATTERY POWERED RADIOS AND TELEVISIONS TO PEOPLE ALONG WITH LANTERNS. I AM USED TO GOING WITH OUT AND LIVING A HARD LIFE BUT MOST ARE NOT.

I NEVER LEAVE MY DOG ALONE BECAUSE SHE STILL CAN SENSE TROUBLE AND I DO NOT WANT HER STRESSED OUT. EVEN THOUGH I NOW HAVE POWER IT GETS INTERRUPTED ALL THE TIME AND I KEEP FLASHLIGHTS AT EVERY DOOR AND ON EVERY TABLE.

I TRIED ORDERING THINGS ON THE PHONE AND IT WAS A NIGHTMARE, THEY ALL TOLD ME TO USE THE INTERNET, BUT I WAS PERSISTENT AND I FINALLY FOUND PEOPLE THAT HELPED ME AND I GOT IT DONE.

I HAVE ONLY BEEN WILLING TO HELP HUMBLE AND DECENT PEOPLE AND THE OTHERS I TOLD "NO" RIGHT TO THEIR FACE. THEY KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF THEY BREAK IN TO MY HOUSE. I DO NOT CARE WHAT COLOR THEY ARE IF THEY NEED HELP AND I CAN HELP THEM I WILL.

THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE MUSLIMS THAT HATE JEWS. ITS REALLY THAT SIMPLE, THEY ARE NOT WHAT THEY APPEAR TO BE. THESE ARE TRYING TIMES THAT TRY MENS SOULS AND ITS GOING TO GET MUCH WORSE. WALL STREET IS FINISHED AND SO ARE THE BANKS. ITS ALL BECAUSE OF HUMAN GREED.

I WILL WRITE MORE LATER.

BAN OF LEAD BULLETS IN CALIFORNIA

SACRAMENTO — California hunting regulators Friday broadened a prohibition on lead bullets scheduled to take effect July 1, adding .22-caliber ammunition to the ban.

The new rules will apply only in those areas where the endangered California condor roams — generally, the coastal mountains from Monterey south to Ventura County and in the southern Sierra.

The action by the Fish and Game Commission follows enactment of a landmark law signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger this fall that bans the use of lead ammunition by deer hunters in the affected areas.

Lead poisoning is the leading cause of sickness and death among condors in the wild, and condor researchers say bullet fragments in the carcasses of fallen animals are the principal source of the poisoning.

Conservationists praised the regulations, adopted on a 3-1 vote.

"This is another victory for the California condor," said Graham Chisolm of Audubon California. "The commission took the right steps to ensure that the new law is implemented in a way that makes the most sense for both the condor and hunters."

"These regulations go above and beyond the scope of the law," said Pamela Flick, state program director for Defenders of Wildlife.

She noted that the law would have provided an exemption for .22-caliber ammunition, which is typically used to shoot non-game animals such as ground squirrels and black crows. Alternatives to lead ammunition for .22-caliber rifles is not yet commercially available.

Adrianna Shea, the commission's deputy executive director, said commissioners hope their action will spur manufacturers to produce nonlead alternatives. Copper bullets are already available for larger caliber rifles that are typically used for deer hunting.

She noted the dissenting vote of Commissioner Jim Kellogg was based solely on his objection to including .22-caliber ammunition in the ban.

Shea said the commission's action was independent from the law, and Friday's vote simply completed a regulatory process the commission initiated months ago.

The regulations also go one step beyond the law by banning not just the use but also the possession of lead ammunition in the affected areas. That distinction, she noted, will make it easier for wardens to enforce the ban.

Schwarzenegger in October signed AB 821 by Assemblyman Pedro Nava, D-Santa Barbara, over the objections of firearms manufacturers and gun-owner groups, including the National Rifle Association.

Ten Russian warships have docked at Syrian port

DEBKAfile Exclusive Report

Russian Navy in action

Russian Navy in action

Israeli military and naval commanders were taken by surprise by Rear Adm. Andrei Baranov's disclosure that 10 Russian warships are already anchored at the Syrian port of Tartus, DEBKAfile’s military sources report.

Moscow and Damascus have worked fast to put in place the agreement reached in Moscow on Sept. 12 by Russian navy commander, Adm. Vladimir Wysotsky and Syrian naval commander Gen. Taleb al-Barri to provide the Russian fleet with a long-term base at Syrian ports. Israel was not aware that this many vessels were involved in the deal.

What most worries Israeli military leaders is an earlier announcement by Adm. Wysotsky that Russia’s Mediterranean assets would subjected to its Black Sea fleet command, thereby placing Russia’s warships near Israel’s shores at the service of Moscow’s contest against the US and NATO in the Caucasian. It is feared that Israel will be dragged into another cold war.

Rear Adm. Baranov disclosed that the warships in Tartus had brought engineering crews to widen and dredge the harbor to accommodate additional, fleet vessels. The crews were also working on expanding Latakia, another Syrian port, possibly for aircraft carriers or guided missile cruisers.

The Russians are making no secret of their intention of using their naval presence in Syrian ports as a deterrent to a possible Israeli air strike against Syria.

Fannie Mae headquarters in Washington, D.C.
NEW YORK – Campaign contributions from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac made to Barack Obama may backfire if the Democratic presidential hopeful wages an aggressive campaign to cast blame on rival John McCain and the Republicans in Congress for the mortgage-related losses that forced the U.S. Treasury to take over the quasi-governmental mortgage giants.

A review of Federal Election Commission records back to 1989 reveals Obama in his three complete years in the Senate is the second largest recipient of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae campaign contributions, behind only Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., the powerful chairman of the Senate banking committee. Dodd was first elected to the Senate in 1980.

According to OpenSecrets.com, from 1989 to 2008, Dodd received $165,400 in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac campaign contributions, including contributions from PACs and individuals, followed by Obama, who received $126,349 in such contributions since being elected to the Senate in 2004.

In contrast, McCain warned of the coming mortgage crisis as he pressed in 2005 for regulatory reform of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
