COMMENTARY BY HARRY GORMAN
My friend Harry is 94 years old

Fellow Americans,

Years ago, when I was running my small printing and "advertising" business I had a close-up look at how the giant ad agencies worked -- and was shocked to my innocent socks.

Lying, distorting, using all kinds of "bait" to trick the public into BUYING their clients' product -- that was the only game in their plush Madison Avenue agencies.
Not all - but most.

Today, it's practically ALL. Study closely the pharmaceutical ads on TV and so many others where I see (because I know where to look) the trickery that is/are the tools of their "profession".
(I think prostitution is also called a "profession")?
'nuff said.

I hammer some honest advertising (Years ago, a magazine or newspaper ad that just pictured a Cadillac and a headline "The Penalty of Excellence" -- which simply "said" to the reader "Here I am, a quality produce and I must maintain respect for this product by continuing its excellence". . . Or, so I saw it.

Now, even politicians are advertised to an easily manipulated "voting" public -- packaged like a jar of pickled herring, his virtues glorified (distorted) his faults, lack of experience, strange connections muted or omitted.

I don't feel well enough for a lengthy treatise about the advertising industry's ability to turn mouse into monster and vice versa, by the use of clever words, imagery and music.
Too weary for more.

Ann Coulter

The rash of recent shooting incidents has led people who wouldn't know an AK-47 from a paintball gun to issue demands for more restrictions on guns. To be sure, it's hard to find any factor in these shootings that could be responsible -- other than the gun.

So far, this year's public multiple shootings were committed by:

-- Richard Poplawski, 23, product of a broken family, expelled from high school and dishonorably discharged from the Marines, who killed three policemen in Pittsburgh .

-- Former crack addict Jiverly Wong, 41, who told co-workers " America sucks" yet somehow was not offered a job as a speechwriter for Barack Obama. Wong blockaded his victims in a civic center in Binghamton , N.Y. , and shot as many people as he could, before killing himself.

-- Robert Stewart, 45, a three-time divorcee and high school dropout with "violent tendencies" -- according to one of his ex-wives -- who shot up the nursing home in Carthage, N.C., where his newly estranged wife worked.

-- Lovelle Mixon, 26, a paroled felon, struggling to get his life back on track by pimping, who shot four cops in Oakland , Calif. -- before eventually being shot himself.

-- Twenty-eight-year-old Michael McLendon, child of divorce, living with his mother and boycotting family funerals because he hated his relatives, who killed 10 of those relatives and their neighbors in Samson , Ala.

It might make more sense to outlaw men than guns. Or divorce. Or crack. Or to prohibit felons from having guns. Except we already outlaw crack and felons owning guns and yet still, somehow, Wong got crack and Mixon got a gun.

After being pulled over for a routine traffic violation, Lovelle Mixon did exactly what they teach in driver's ed by immediately shooting four cops. Mixon's supporters held a posthumous rally in his honor, claiming he shot the cops only in "self-defense," which I take it includes the cop Mixon shot while the officer was lying on the ground.

I guess Mixon also raped that 12-year-old girl in "self-defense." Clearly, the pimping industry has lost a good man. I wish I'd known him. I tip my green velvet fedora with the dollar signs all over it to him. Why do the good ones always die young? Pimps, I mean.

Liberals tolerate rallies on behalf of cop-killers, but they prohibit law-abiding citizens working at community centers in Binghamton , N.Y. , from being armed to defend themselves from disturbed, crack-addicted America-haters like Jiverly Wong.

It's something in liberals' DNA: They think they can pass a law eliminating guns and nuclear weapons, but teenagers having sex is completely beyond our control.

The demand for more gun control in response to any crime involving a gun is exactly like Obama's response to North Korea 's openly belligerent act of launching a long-range missile this week: Obama leapt to action by calling for worldwide nuclear disarmament.

If the SAT test were used to determine how stupid a liberal is, one question would be: "The best defense against lawless rogues who possess _______ is for law-abiding individuals to surrender their own _______________."

Correct answer: Guns. We would also have accepted nuclear weapons.

Obama explained that "the United States has a moral responsibility" to lead disarmament efforts because America is "the only nuclear power to have used a nuclear weapon."

So don't go feeling all morally superior to a country whose business model consists of exporting heroin, nuclear bombs and counterfeit U.S. dollars, and of importing Swedish prostitutes, you yahoo Americans with your little flag lapel pins.

On the other hand, the Japanese haven't acted up much in the last, say, 64 years ...

Fortunately, US sailors didn't wait around for Obama to save them when Somali pirates boarded their ship this week. Stop right now or I'll ask the U.N. to remind the "international community" that "the U.S. is not at war with Somali pirates."

Gun-toting Americans are clearly more self-sufficient than the sissy Europeans. This is great news for everyone except Barney Frank, who's always secretly wondered what it would be like to be taken by a Somali pirate.

Police -- whom I gather liberals intend to continue having guns -- and intrepid U.N. resolution drafters can't be everywhere, all the time.

If a single civilian in that Binghamton community center had been armed, instead of 14 dead, there might have only been one or two -- including the shooter. In the end, the cops didn't stop Wong. His killing 20 spree ended only when he decided to stop, and he killed himself.

"The shooter will eventually run out of ammo" strategy may not be the best one for stopping deranged multiple murderers.

But it's highly unlikely that any community center in the entire state would be safe from a disturbed former crack-addict like Wong because New York 's restrictive gun laws require a citizen to prove he has a need for a gun to obtain a concealed carry permit.

Instead of having Planned Parenthood distribute condoms in schools, they ought get the NRA to pass out revolvers. It would save more lives.

Israel's Air & Missile Forces Could Wipe out Iran's Nuclear Sites

DEBKA-Net-Weekly Exclusive Updated by DEBKAfile

April 15, 2009

The detailed report compiled by the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS) in Washington last month, complete with graphs and diagrams, has been reprinted in thousands of copies in Tehran. It is compulsory reading for its intelligence and Revolutionary Guards personnel because the Study on a Possible Israeli Strike on Iran's Nuclear Development Facilities concludes that the Jewish state has all the resources necessary for a successful strike.

When asked recently, Adm. Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint US Chiefs of Staff, agreed with this estimate. This week, president Shimon Peres and prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu both said that if diplomacy failed to halt Iran's nuclear activities, Israel would be left with no option other than the military one. And Tuesday, April 14, the New York Times quoted an Israeli official as saying that Jerusalem would give the Obama administration until late 2009 to stop Iran's uranium enrichment projects; after that, Israel will be forced to act.

Tehran responded with a complaint to the UN Security Council demanding that Israel be condemned for "its threats against a sovereign state."

For the past three years, US military and intelligence sources have used attributed and leaked assessments to the American media to emphasize that such an operation is beyond Israel's capabilities because of the nuclear facilities' wide distribution across Iran. At best, they maintained, the Israeli Air Force might knock out a few Iranian nuclear installations, but only enough to put Iran's nuclear drive temporarily on hold.

The CSIS paper refutes this assessment and maintains there is no need to destroy dozens or hundreds of sites; the destruction of seven to nine targets would be enough to cripple the Iranian program, and lists them as follows:

1. Lashkar A'bad, site of secret uranium enrichment plants in the north near the Turkish border.

2. Tehranb, for the central laboratory for developing atomic armaments as well as more uranium enrichment facilities.

3. Arak, in central Iran, where a heavy water plant is under construction to manufacture plutonium for weapons.

4. Isfahan, in central Iran, near which a small research reactor and a cluster of laboratories for uranium enrichment, centrifuges and weapons development, are situated.

5. Natanz, the main center for uranium enrichment.

6. Ardekan, at the southern tip of Iran, where more uranium enrichment facilities are located.

7. Saghand, Iran's main uranium mining region.

8. Bushehr, on the Persian Gulf shore, Iran's biggest nuclear reactor built by Russia.

9. Gachin, near the Strait of Hormuz, the site of more uranium mines and enrichment facilities.

Complicated tables set forth an array of technical details showing how many PG bombs Israeli Air Force F16I or F15F bomber-fighter planes can carry, how much fuel is needed to reach their Iranian targets, and at what stage of their return journey they would need to refuel.

This think tank finds Israel has enough aircraft as well as the necessary intelligence and electronic resources for the task - contrary to previous estimates.

The authors propose three attack routes for a potential Israeli operation against Iran: an eastern route over Saudi Arabia; a central route over Iraq, and a northern route over Turkey, Syria and northern Iraqi Kurdistan. They point to the third as Israel's best option in view of the superiority of its electronic warfare (EW) capabilities.

This is the first time a detailed and accurate description of these capabilities, and a description of how they were put to use in the Israeli raid on the North Korean-built plutonium reactor in Dar az-Zawr, Syria, on September, 2007, has ever been published.

Secret Nazi Memo: Is It Coming to Pass?

The Trumpet keeps a keen eye on Germany. For nearly two decades, we have waited, watched and written about the emergence of a globally dominant, German-led bloc of European states. We have warned specifically that a spectacular global financial crisis, centered in the United States, will likely bring this event to fruition.

We are not entirely alone in this expectation.

The following is a snippet from a secret memorandum written by high-ranking German officers and distributed among an elite group of leading Germans in Bonn and other parts of the world. It is an electrifying picture of current events: “Economic difficulties will one day plunge the United States down from its present dizzy heights. Such a catastrophe can be brought about through crafty manipulations and through artificially engendered crises. Such maneuvers are routine measures which have already been employed in international power struggle and will be used again and again as long as economic rivals fight for power positions and markets in the world.

“It is quite conceivable that America, weakened by a depression, will one day seek support from a resurrected Germany. Such a prospect would open tremendous possibilities for the future power position of a bloc introducing a new order in the world.”

Spanish prosecutors will seek criminal charges against Alberto Gonzales and five high-ranking Bush administration officials for sanctioning torture at Guantánamo.

Spanish prosecutors have decided to press forward with a criminal investigation targeting former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and five top associates over their role in the torture of five Spanish citizens held at Guantánamo, several reliable sources close to the investigation have told The Daily Beast. Their decision is expected to be announced on Tuesday before the Spanish central criminal court, the Audencia Nacional, in Madrid. But the decision is likely to raise concerns with the human-rights community on other points: They will seek to have the case referred to a different judge.

Ten High-Tech Weapons to Repel Pirates

Wednesday, April 15, 2009
By Paul Wagenseil

How does a small gang of lightly armed Somali pirates hijack a modern cargo ship?

Speed and weaponry, mainly. Modern pirates, whether off the coast of Somalia or in the crowded shipping lanes of southeast Asia, typically use fast speedboats to zoom up to the sterns of slow-moving cargo ships. They then toss grappling hooks up to the rails and climb up ropes to clamber on deck.

Pirates are generally armed with assault rifles and, increasingly, rocket-propelled grenade launchers. Modern ships' crews are usually unarmed for a number of reasons, among them laws that prevent armed vessels from docking in the ports of many countries.

"The maritime unions, shipping companies and the International Maritime Organization all agree that ship's crews should not be armed," says Capt. George Quick, vice president of the International Organization of Masters, Mates and Pilots, based in Linthicum, Md. "It would only escalate the situation The [Somali] pirates are pretty well funded, and they'd just get bigger weapons."

Pirates Beware: Next-Gen Snipers Could Get Guided Bullets, Super Scopes

By Noah Shachtman EmailApril 13, 2009 | 11:04:00 AMCategories: DarpaWatch, Gadgets and Gear, Guns

2005022209a American snipers are already center-of-the-bullseye accurate - just look at the three shots that ended the Somali pirate standoff in the Indian Ocean. But tomorrow's sharpshooters could be even sharper still, if a slew of Pentagon research projects work out as planned.

Already, we've seen Navy SEAL shooters take out three pirates with three trigger-pulls -- despite uneven seas and bobbing ships. Imagine how much easier the snipers' jobs would have been, if they had rounds that could change course in mid-air, to account for crosswinds, air density, and moving targets. Darpa, the Defense Department's way-out research arm, launched a $22 million effort in November to do just that. By countering these "fundamental limitation[s] of accuracy," Darpa thinks it can dramatically improve American snipers' range -- and "provide a dramatic new capability to the U.S. military."

And if this EXACTO ("EXtreme Accuracy Tasked Ordnance") project doesn't work out, Darpa has other guided-bullet programs -- like a $7.5 million effort to use lasers to steer rounds to their targets. Laser guidance systems are what made the some of the early "smart bombs" so much more accurate than their predecessors; it changed how war was waged from the sky. "Smart bullets" could eventually make a similar impact, perhaps.

The agency is also working on ways to radically upgrade snipers' scopes and spotting gear. Researchers in the "One Shot" program are trying to build an optical system that'll compensate for hiccups in the local atmosphere. By using thousands of laser pulses, agency-funded investigators are hoping to create a profile of the "eddies" in the air, as the light bounces back. The scope, through a series of algorithms, can take those eddies into account, as the sniper team aims. Darpa hopes the new scope will give snipers lethal precision at a range of up to 2000 meters, in winds up to 40 miles per hour. If it happens, Defense Department researchers say, it'll boost a sniper's kill-rate by ten-fold, or more, and let snipers "engage and pull the trigger" in "less than one second."

A companion project, Super-Resolution Vision System (SRVS), wouldn't just make snipers more accurate. It would make them functionally invisible, as well. The system is trying to use "heat haze" -- that shimmer you see on summer days, out in the distance -- for helping snipers, instead of inhibiting them. In any given instant, the heated air acts as a series of lenses; you may be able to look right through them and see a magnified view of the scene beyond. The trick is to use digital technology to identify the "lucky regions" or "lucky frames" when a clear view appears and assemble them into a complete picture. SRVS researchers are aiming to do just that.

If scope works out, it'll be a particular spooky tool. Even if the target is looking right at you, they won’t see a thing because of the heat haze. A sniper using one of these will be a truly invisible assassin, with the ideal technology for picking off high-value targets.

The prototype is supposed to be ready this year. Finished units could be delivered to Special Operations units as early as 2011. As if pirates didn't have enough to worry about.

Blueprint for silencing talk radio exposed

New book warns of 'commissar committees' to censor speech

WASHINGTON – As popular opposition to the reinstitution of the so-called "Fairness Doctrine" mounts, Barack Obama and the Democrat-dominated Congress will end-run critics with legislation that will curb dissent on talk radio through the imposition of "localism" rules and community watchdog boards across America, charges a new book by a former NBC Westwood One talk-show host.

In "Shut Up, America! The End of Free Speech," author Brad O'Leary says the plan amounts to the development of party-approved "commissar committees" to censor the kind of lively and free-wheeling debate America has known since the scrapping of the so-called "Fairness Doctrine" by President Reagan's Federal Communications Commission in 1987.

By demanding radio stations answer to local community watchdog boards to ensure programming is "balanced," "fair," "diverse," "tolerant" and "serving the public interest locally," O'Leary says the rules and legislation being planned will once again make talk radio accountable to politicians, political activists and bureaucrats at the FCC.

Tell your government to stay away from censoring talk radio and manipulating news coverage: Sign WND's Petition to Block Congressional Attacks on Freedom of Speech and Press now!

The ultimate threat over the heads of radio stations is license renewal, he explains. "Far-left groups such as ACORN [Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now] stand at the ready to pressure these boards into silencing conservative talk radio programs, either through intimidation or the loss of broadcast licenses," says O'Leary, who, during the presidential campaign, wrote the best-selling book, "The Audacity of Deceit: Barack Obama's War on American Values."

The book points out there were only 75 radio talk shows in America during the last year of the "Fairness Doctrine" rules. Today, there are more than 3,000.

"The liberals' once-dominant media forum is fading fast, in part because Americans have discovered real diversity of ideas elsewhere," O'Leary writes. "The enemies of free speech know this. They also know that, if they are to accomplish their goal of stifling all debate, they will have to control all media outlets."

While the Obama administration and some Democratic congressional leaders have denied efforts to reinstate the "Fairness Doctrine," none have denied efforts to stack the FCC with appointees open to the idea of reining in talk radio.

"Under the rubric of 'broadcast localism,' it is clear the commission is proposing no less than a sweeping takeover by Washington bureaucrats of broadcast media," wrote Rep. John Boehner, House minority leader, in a letter to FCC Chairman Kevin Martin as far back as last June. "The proposals and recommendations for commission action contained in the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking amount to the stealth enactment of the Fairness Doctrine, a policy designated to squelch the free speech and free expression of specifically targeted audiences."

Those regulations would specifically "reinstitute advisory boards to regulate broadcast content and revive a host of other rules the commission dropped more than 20 years ago," explained Boehner.

Also revealed in "Shut Up, America" is evidence that Obama's new FCC chairman wants to create a "Fairness Doctrine" for the Internet to regulate and censor online speech.

Julius Genachowski, an Obama friend from Harvard Law School and the mastermind behind Obama's online fundraising machine, is an ardent supporter of so-called "net neutrality" regulations, perceived by O'Leary as a first step toward "Fairness Doctrine"-style regulations on content for the Internet. Genachowski would have government decide what content Internet operators and network owners must provide.

"Incredibly, he claims this is to keep the Internet free and open to all," says O'Leary. "In reality, his goal is to usher the heavy hands of federal regulators into the tent. Genachowski would give federal regulators editorial authority over what private operators must provide."

Genachowski also advocates creating new media ownership rules that promote a diversity of voices on the airwaves. In fact, Genachowski is credited with helping craft the Obama technology agenda, which states: "Encourage diversity in the ownership of broadcast media, promote the development of new media outlets for expression of diverse viewpoints, and clarify the public interest obligations of broadcasters who occupy the nation's spectrum."

"Such language is bureaucratese for government control," explains O'Leary. "So-called 'public interest' requirements would put broadcasters at the mercy of local review boards. Such boards would, of course, be politically charged entities with the power to bar any broadcast content that is not deemed to be in the 'public interest' of the local community."

"Shut Up, America: The End of Free Speech," published by WND Books, is in bookstores nationally today. O'Leary launches national promotion for the book today.

"If you want to see the blueprint for the plot to silence talk radio, this is it," says Joseph Farah, founder of WND and WND Books. "How important is this? If you want to see the people in charge in Washington remain there perpetually, ignore this threat. The plot to end free speech and the free press in America is the ultimate incumbent protection plan."

Should Americans Prepare for a “Summer of Rage”?

April 14, 2009 | From theTrumpet.com

Why some are saying it’s time to get your guns, get out of the city and head for your survival bunker.

Americans are the most heavily armed people in the world. They are also probably the most heavily doped, drugged and indebted. With the economy breaking down, an explosive cocktail could be brewing. The protests at the G-20 and nato summits could be a harbinger of what is headed for Main Street America.

Parts of Strasbourg resembled miniature war zones during the nato summit (April 3 and 4). It was like a French Gaza. Masked protesters hurled rocks, smashed windows and even lit a hotel on fire. Stratfor reported that rioters armed with loaded weapons indicated the violence could have easily exploded into something much worse. Around 25,000 riot police mobilized and arrested hundreds of people. “It’s incredible to think that people choose to take part in a peace protest armed with axes and metal bars and take out their anger on civil servants who are merely doing their job,” French President Nicolas Sarkozy said during a television interview Sunday (emphasis mine).

Yet, rioting in Europe is becoming commonplace. On April 4 in Rome, 200,000 workers took to the streets in the city to vent frustrations over the financial crisis. Over the last month or so in France, hundreds of angry workers have taken managers hostage at three different companies (Caterpillar, 3M and Sony) to protest mass layoffs and wring concessions out of employers.

The British are preparing for more riots too. At the beginning of April, two chief constables quoted in Mail Online gave grim warnings: It’s time to “batten down the hatches. The bad old days of riots could soon be back.” Police are warning that a summer of ragemay soon engulf the country as victims of the economic downturn take to the streets, the Guardian reported.

But could anything like this hit America?

According to Trends Research Institute ceo Gerald Celente, yes, and soon—and riots are not the only issue Americans will have on their hands.

In November 2007, Celente told upi that the following year would become known as “The Panic of 2008.” Proven correct, he now paints a disturbing picture for 2009 and beyond. Celente says to expect food riots, squatter rebellions, tax revolts and job marches by 2012. “America’s going to go through a transition the likes of which no one is prepared for,” he said.

But Celente is not alone in his sober forecast. In a recent Kitco.com post, Trader Tracks Newsletter analyst Roger Wiegand, painted a dark picture:

Social problems from massive unemployment will cause higher crime rates. One analyst estimates the U.S. murder rate will increase to 50,000 per year, matching national traffic accident numbers. Single mothers, children, elderly and others will go hungry. National government disaster planners cannot cope (think Katrina times 100) as they grossly underestimate how bad this can get and how swiftly it arrives. There is plenty of food but the handling and distribution problems will interrupt/delay deliveries. People eat daily, not once a month.

In response to public demonstrations, food riots and escalation of crime, federal troops will be called out and martial law implemented in the worst-case cities. The right-wing militias will be joined by other put-upon groups in fighting with these troops. With so many weapons throughout America, this is going to be ongoing and deadly.

If the above scenario didn’t leave you dizzy, Wiegand goes on to say that large sectors of corporate America will grind to a standstill. Soaring unemployment will cause black markets to spring up everywhere. The U.S. dollar will become obsolete as bartering and personal trading becomes the new American economy. The new black market will put further pressure on what is left of America’s remaining retail business. U.S. auto industries will go bankrupt, and GM and Chrysler will no longer be independent companies. Those who can afford it will abandon the big cities and live in gated enclaves protected by private armies. In short, America will, in many ways, become a Third World country.

In case you think Celente and Wiegand are overly extreme, the evidence is all over the local news, you just have to look.

  • According to cnn, a record one in 10 Americans already gets government aid to buy food. That’s over 32 million Americans!
  • According to Bloomberg, the real unemployment rate now stands at 15.6 percent, not the oft-quoted 8.5 percent.
  • According to USA Today, record numbers of consumers are behind on their non-mortgage loans.
  • According to Reuters, one in eight U.S. homeowners is behind on loan payments or in foreclosure.
  • According to Associated Press, tent cities are springing up as people are forced out of their homes and onto the streets.

One of the most vivid examples showing that America may be on the verge of breakdown comes in the form of grassroots tax day tea parties, or rallies, scheduled in the coming weeks. There are thousands of them.

“The tea parties will bring the outrage to a full boil,” one Republican political commentator said. “[T]he battle to protect our nation from socialism’s effect on our culture and our American exceptionalism has just begun.”

Is America on the verge of another 1773?

There is evidence that the U.S. government thinks the possibility of widespread internal turmoil is a real possibility and is developing a military contingency plan. On Sept. 30, 2008, the Army Times reported that Army troops returning from Iraq were now being trained in America “as an on-call federal response force for natural or man-made emergencies and disasters,” and may be “called upon to help with civil unrest and crowd control.” As of the end of 2008, 20,000 troops had been earmarked for deployment within the U.S, the Washington Post reported.

Are Vietnamesque protests, or the widespread and violent worker marches of the Great Depression, about to return? Could another Boston Tea Party—or something worse—be brewing?

Celente warns, “The ‘Panic of ‘08′ will be followed by The Collapse of ‘09.’” Political, environmental, geopolitical, social and economic factors all point to “the decline and fall of Empire America,” he says.

Will today’s economic breakdown be the match that ignites the social Molotov cocktail?

America is facing a future of friction and flame. As the U.S. economy further breaks down, unemployment and, consequently, social pressures will inevitably increase. Is chaos in American cities about to become a common sight? Read the chapter “Terrorism and Race Riots” from Gerald Flurry’s booklet Ezekiel: The End-Time Prophet to understand how the Bible says terrorism and race riots are looming—for America.

Tea parties going global
More than 2,000 protests planned for Tax Day – even in Denmark

Tax Day Tea Party, organizer for April 15 rallies

While WND has found information for more than 700 tea parties, the American Family Association is reporting Tax Day protests for 2,000 cities – and Tax Day Tea Party claims the movement has now spread overseas.

With less than two days before citizens take to the streets, the mainstream media are beginning to report the widespread movement – but many major outlets are doing so in critical columns and television reports.

Media buzz

New York Times columnist Paul Krugman wrote, "Republicans have become embarrassing to watch. And it doesn't feel right to make fun of crazy people."

He said the tea parties are not an accurate representation of public sentiment.

"They're AstroTurf (fake grassroots) events, manufactured by the usual suspects," he wrote.

Paul Krugman (photo: Princeton University)

USA Today reported that the nationwide protest would number only 500 U.S. town and cities, while a Forbes columnist argued that "federal revenues as a share of the gross domestic product will be lower this year than any year since 1950."

MSNBC's "Rachel Maddow Show" denigrated the movement with puns for 13 minutes, calling it "insanitea" organized by conservative activists. She laughed out loud as she disparaged "tea-baggers" during the broadcast.

MSNBC's David Shuster accused Fox News of "fluffing" the Tax Day tea parties after the news channel became one of few major media outlets to consistently report on the events.

Newsweek Senior Editor Daniel Gross said the movement was "AstroTurf" rather than grassroots because he alleges it began from the top down, according to NewsBusters.

"I think, when it comes to teabagging, the president should probably just ignore this," Gross said. "He's got 10 other things on his plate, you know, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, the banking crisis, the overall economic situation, health care. To get bogged down with a – you know, what seems to be a fringe group of people throwing consumer products into the lakes and rivers of this nation doesn't seem to be worthy of his attention. …"

However, hundreds of U.S. dailies and local news stations are announcing Tax Day tea parties in various towns and cities.

UPDATED MONDAY - APRIL 13, 2009

DON'T TREAD ON ME - THE AMERICA THAT MOST POLITICIANS DO NOT SEE OR UNDERSTAND.

COMMENTARY BY HARRY GORMAN

My friend Harry is 94 years old

Fellow Americans,

Anyone with a brain in his/her head knows that ALL the media, the N.Y.Times, Los Angeles Times, etc. etc. -AND ALL
the major radio, television and cable channels ARE OWNED BY GIANT CORPORATIONS or billionaire individuals like Rupert Murdock (owner of the Wall St. Journal and lots of other "news dissemination media".).
Even the Fox News "conservative" channels are owned by big corporations or BIG $$$ billionaires.

Do you REALLY think these owners are going to allow a real discussion about our disastrous involvement in the Global Economy?
Like -- WHY ARE WE IN BED WITH COMMUNIST MURDERERS -- making them filthy rich as we grow
broke -- and super-broke???

Mustn't talk about THAT. Most of the corporations in the Fortune 500 are up to their greedy necks "trading" with communist China and their 60 cents an hour factory labor costs.

NO "talking head" newscaster from Katie Couric (CBS owned by Westinghouse) or her "equivalent" on NBC (owned by General Electric) or other "media" owned by Disney or Murdock -- even "conservative" Fox News channels, featuring
Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh -- others -- NEVER DARE TO SAY OUT LOUD or even in a whisper that the TRAITORS in and out of Congress who, these past 40 years have been busy, busy "outsourcing" our wonderful MANUFACTURING FACTORIES AND MILLIONS OF JOBS to bloody communist China and to other dictator-ridden lands with whose slave-wages Americans can never compete!

RESULT? another, endless DEPRESSION -- which could have been prevented if only TRAITOR PRESIDENTS like Nixon and Clinton and their equally traitorous Congresses had cared more about Americans than about "loss-loss" trade with communist China, Japan, Mexicans and other cheap-labor providers that made them and their corporate buddies rich beyond their wildest dreams.

WHO are the victims of these traitors, past and present?
The innocent children coming after us who, at best, will be kept at "make-work" Government projects paid for with phony money -- a one-way trip to economic extinction.
And -- as we speak. . . .

Homeland Security on guard for 'right-wing extremists'
Returning U.S. military veterans singled out as particular threats

WASHINGTON – A newly unclassified Department of Homeland Security report warns against the possibility of violence by unnamed "right-wing extremists" concerned about illegal immigration, increasing federal power, restrictions on firearms, abortion and the loss of U.S. sovereignty and singles out returning war veterans as particular threats.

The report, titled "Right-wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment," dated April 7, states that "threats from white supremacist and violent anti-government groups during 2009 have been largely rhetorical and have not indicated plans to carry out violent acts."

However, the report goes on to suggest worsening economic woes, potential new legislative restrictions on firearms and "the return of military veterans facing significant challenges reintegrating into their communities could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks."

Are you ready for a second Declaration of Independence? Sign the petition promoting true freedom once again!

The report from DHS' Office of Intelligence and Analysis defines right-wing extremism in the U.S. as "divided into those groups, movements and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups) and those that are mainly anti-government, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration."

"[T]he consequences of a prolonged economic downturn – including real estate foreclosures, unemployment and an inability to obtain credit – could create a fertile recruiting environment for right-wing extremists and even result in confrontations between such groups and government authorities similar to those in the past," the report says.

Iran rejects big powers proposal for resumed nuclear talks, Peres threatens military strike

DEBKAfile Special Report

Iran's home-made nuclear fuel rods exhibited

Iran's home-made nuclear fuel rods exhibited

DEBKAfile's Iranian sources report two key developments in the standoff over Iran's nuclear drive: Tehran effectively rejected the latest offer by the five UN Security Council permanent members plus Germany of nuclear negotiations with direct US involvement. This shut the door on US president Barack Obama's first diplomatic gambit for direct dialogue with Tehran.

Sunday, Israeli President Shimon Peres told an Israeli radio interviewer that if President Barack Obama's diplomatic efforts to prevent Iran from going nuclear failed, "We'll strike him," referring to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Our Iranian experts note that Ali Larijani, speaker of the Iranian parliament (Majlis), was chosen for his government's rebuff as a mark of unity in the regime's top ranks on the nuclear question.

As a former nuclear negotiator himself, Larijani projected the image in the West of a pragmatic, moderate diplomat. As radical as any of his colleagues, he now said: "The Iranian government will only conduct international negotiations on the nuclear issue that are approved by the parliament and the legislature will closely monitor all such talks."

He then added: "The proposal by some members of the 5+1 group calling for more intrusive inspections of Iran's nuclear activities is not legal" – a direct snub of US secretary of state Hillary Clinton's demand on April 9 for Iran to ensure that the UN nuclear watchdog be "a source of credible information."

In making negotiations contingent on Majlis approval, the Speaker invoked the 2007 measure which banned the cessation of uranium enrichment and prohibited concessions on Iran's nuclear program. Larijani thus informed the six world powers that Iran's stipulation for taking up their proposed talks is that uranium enrichment and all other aspects of Iran's nuclear program be excluded from the agenda.

Obama's planned dialogue with Tehran received another setback Saturday, April 4, from Moscow. Shortly after the six powers published their proposal, foreign minister Sergei Lavrov told the Russia parliament: "Relations between Russia and its neighbor Iran are expanding at high speed." He added that his country was sparing no effort to remove "remaining ambiguities in the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear activities….after their removal," said Lavrov, "Iran will enjoy equal rights with other members of the NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty)."

According to DEBKAfile's Moscow sources, Lavrov underlined a dramatic turnabout in Moscow's approach to Iran's nuclear activities. He downgraded the enormity of Iran's violation of the NPT terms as "ambiguities," indicating they were too petty for the fussing Russia's fellow powers, the US, France, Britain and Germany were making over them and advising them to accept the Iranian program as a fait accompli.

And talking of "ambiguities," Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Thursday, April 9, opened a plant for producing uranium fuel in industrial quantities and said Iran is testing two new high-capacity enrichment centrifuges.

According to Israeli and Western intelligence sources, this would also put the Arak heavy plant on the fast track for the manufacture of plutonium, alongside the weapons-grade enrichment of uranium.

Meet fierce blonde behind Obama eligibility lawsuits
Soviet Union survivor: President spits in face of every U.S. citizen

Dr. Orly Taitz (WND photo / Chelsea Schilling)

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. – She's the fierce blond attorney behind Obama eligibility lawsuits, a successful dentist with two offices, a second-degree black belt and a mother of three boys who speaks five languages.

Dr. Orly Taitz, a woman with a vibrant smile and an ebullient personality, has not always enjoyed an independent life filled with promise and ambition. She was born and raised in Kishinev (also spelled Chisinau), the capital of the Republic of Moldova, a country in Eastern Europe that was formerly part of the Soviet Union.

Drawing on her experiences under a communist regime, she told WND she is determined to do her part to stop America from following in the all-too-familiar footsteps of her former homeland.

Life under communism

She described her life in a communist nation: Markets were bare, people had no desire to work and the government forced young children into slave labor.

"We'd stop at the store, and the food stores were empty," she said. "I remember we had to stand in lines for hours in the cold. We were in a bus, going home and suddenly we'd see a line. We wouldn't even know what they were selling, but we knew something would be there – some food. We'd stand for two hours to buy maybe a pound of salami or a half a pound of butter."

As a young child, Taitz asked her father why the market shelves were empty.

"In America, they have everything," he would tell her. "The stores are full."

Her father explained that Americans were interested in working and received paychecks based on their productivity. However, in the Soviet Union, farmers were part of a socialist system of collective farming and were compensated equally – regardless of output.

He told her, "If a farmer is bright and hard working, at the end of the month, he will get 100 rubles. And if the farmer is a lazy bum and he does nothing, he gets the same 100 rubles."

Taitz told WND, "People had absolutely no incentive to do anything. They had no incentive to work. The best doctors were getting maybe 150 rubles. That's why the standards for medicine were so low."

Where's the proof Barack Obama was born in the U.S. or that he fulfills the "natural-born American" clause in the Constitution? If you still want to see it, join more than 350,000 others and sign up now!

Youth camps and slave labor

Republic of Moldova

She said that, much like President Obama's proposed brigade of youth organizers, the Soviet Union used children for slave labor.

"They would put us on trucks, and we would go to the countryside," she said. "We were told to go and pick tomatoes."

Parents were not allowed to homeschool their children. They were forced to enroll them in government schools. From the age of 6, all children were required to become young communists.

"You had to send your child to school, and your child had to be a member of the young communists," Taitz said. "There were no children who were not members. You had to do it. If you were one of the best, you become a member of the Communist Party. It was constant brainwashing."

She continued, "There was no choice, and people resented that. They were scared to speak up."

Most children were sent to communist youth camps, but Taitz' parents wouldn't allow her to go. Instead, they gave her stacks of math, physics and chemistry textbooks to study while her friends were away at camps.

"My parents didn't want me to be in those camps and be subjected to communist brainwashing," she said. "They wanted me to think for myself. I learned to read by myself, and my parents sent me to competitions in math, physics, chemistry and biology. I would sit and work with pages of problems, and I loved to compete."

An empty existence

Taitz as a baby with her mother in Kishinev

Practice of religion was restricted in the Soviet Union. Churches were closed and repurposed as museums of art.

"You had to be an atheist," Taitz said. "No one could go and pray. You weren't allowed to mention any religion. A lot of priests, ministers and rabbis were sent to Siberia, so people were scared. They didn't celebrate any religious holidays; they just didn't exist."

She said alcohol abuse was rampant and caused the destruction of many lives.

"One of the reasons they had such a serious problem with alcoholism was because there was nothing in people's lives. There was no God, no religion, no choice. You had to conform and comply."

During her years living in the Soviet Union, Taitz said friends would constantly talk about finding ways to break away from the system.

"They would tell me, 'This person was very inventive and built a hot-air balloon to get out from East Germany to West Germany, or somebody was able to swim across the border,'" she said. "There were always stories about how people escaped the regime."

With only one TV station in Kishinev, Taitz said reporters spewed communist propaganda.

Concerned resident aims to form armed militia to patrol Stockton

STOCKTON - A retired truck driver and Vietnam War veteran said Monday that he is forming an armed militia - mostly men with rifles and armbands, four to a car - to patrol Stockton this summer, when at least 43 police officers are to be laid off.

Alan Pettet, 66, said he has recruited 18 men, most of whom are ex-military. He said the militia will train at a firing range and "activate" if the city lays off any officer, as it intends by July 1.

There needs to be a quaint colloquialism Americans can use to describe when a politician looks you square in the eye and tells you an obvious lie. At least, one fit for polite company.

Like when our American president bows down low before a foreign potentate and then denies it. Once the picture hit the American media, the White House scrambled to explain that Obama had to bend over to his waist level in order to grasp King Abdullah by both hands when greeting him last week at the G-20 meeting.

So what you saw wasn't what you really saw. It was just a recorded figment of your imagination.

The camera angles showing our American president bending at the knee wasn't what it looked like, at all. And so we must assume that our American president bowed low enough to put his head below shoulder level of the foreign potentate, was because King Abdullah is short, and has unusually long arms so that he couldn't elevate his hands high enough for Obama to reach without bending over.

Plumb the depths of our in-the-tank news industry with "A Slobbering Love Affair: The True (and Pathetic) Story of the Torrid Romance Between Barack Obama and the Mainstream Media"

Who can forget when President George W. Bush took Abdullah by the hand like a couple of dating teenagers as he gave the Saudi king a tour of his ranch?

Though this is somewhat shocking to Americans, it is a culturally acceptable tradition in the Middle East.

But for an American government official to bow down in obeisance to a foreign royal is an entirely different matter. And it is astonishing for an American president to do so.

Which is why nobody was particularly shocked when President Obama didn't bow before Queen Elizabeth of England. We really didn't expect him to. Americans are not subject to British royalty and therefore bowing before British royalty would be an insult to American sovereignty.

Your average American tourist would be too proud of his country and too independent to bow himself low before the British crown.

American officials do not bow themselves low or curtsy before a foreign monarch because such a gesture symbolizes recognition of that foreign monarch's authority and power over the government they represent.

When the president met with Queen Elizabeth, Obama scandalized British royal protocol by taking both her hands and giving them a hearty shake. British protocol, (a subject in which we assume the Obamas were instructed) forbids one from taking the Queen's proffered hand, instead expecting one to simply brush the royal digits and withdraw.

OK, so Obama practically yanked both her arms off. So what? We're Americans. She's queen of England, not queen of America.

Despite the White House denials, President Obama offered King Abdullah a deep, subservient bow of the kind offered by a subject before his king. I don't think I am reading too much into this. Whatever President Obama thinks Abdullah deserves in the way of subservient fealty, we Americans believe it lowers our sovereign prestige.

Frankly, I am not too much concerned whether President Obama showed the queen of England a small dose of American disrespect out of what could be construed as a temporary lapse of protocol.

But I am greatly concerned, that the president showed King Abdullah far too much respect, given the Muslim Saudi's open hatred of all things Christian or Jewish, Saudi Arabia's legendary disrespect for human rights and religious liberty, or even its institutionalized misogyny. It is important to remember that the Quran commands Muslims to seek the subjection of all other nations to Islam. And an act such as this gives the Muslims the idea that our leader is stepping in that direction.

'GIVE' creating youth brigades?
Service corps expansion gives opponents shivers

Supporters of an Americorps expansion plan pending in Congress laud its efforts to "leverage" federal dollars to boost state, local and other resources to "address national and local challenges," while critics say its fine print secretly would create an "Obama-styled army of community

organizers modeled after Saul Alinsky's 'Peoples Organizations.'" So which is it?

In an era in which Congress can approve thousands of pages of legislation spending hundreds of billions of dollars without reading the proposal, there seems to be no definitive answer on what some of the vague language of H.R. 1388 means.

But there is enough in the "GIVE Act," now awaiting a conference committee in Congress after being approved by both the U.S. House and Senate, to cause critics to shiver.

For example, it certainly imposes a requirement for public service on some people, even though its original much-feared study on mandatory service for all was moved to another bill during congressional debate.

"The Audacity of Deceit" exposes exactly who Barack Obama is. He isn't pedaling "change you can believe in" – he's planning to uproot American culture and replace it with the failed, secular, socialist policies of the past.

The latest version includes a "National Service Reserve Corps" whose members have completed a "term of national service," "has successfully completed training" and "complete not less than 10 hours of volunteering each year."

It also raises First Amendment issues over its limitations on what various corps participants are allowed to do.

For example, it states those in an "approved national service position" may not try to influence legislation, engage in protests or petitions, take positions on union organizing, engage in partisan political activities, or, among other issues, be "engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of proselytization."

German magazine bags Obama ‘confession’ at G-20

Was there a touch of schadenfreude in the ensuing frenzy of commentary?

By James Hagengruber | 04.10.09

While pundits in the United States debate whether or not President Obama inclined his body toward Saudi King Abdullah at last week’s Group of 20 meeting in London, attention in Europe is more focused on the president’s verbal bowing during the summit.

During the final “decisive” session of the G-20 meeting, President Obama uttered three words that, at least according to this account by the respected German news magazine Der Spiegel, amounted to a US confession for causing the financial crisis and and “may go down in world history as one of the greatest statements ever made.”

What, pray tell, did the president say?

“I take responsibility.”

Spiegel, which is Germany’s 800-pound gorilla of serious political journalism, used the statement as the lead of its triple-bylined account of the summit, which is printed under the headline: “Obama’s G-20 Confession.” Much like the rising debate surrounding the president’s alleged bow, the tale of the so-called confession is ripe for a bit of interpretation, which might help explain why the statement didn’t lead the news in the US – rating only a mere mention deep in the bowels of the website Politico – much less garner nomination to be included among statements such as “All men are created equal,” or “I have a dream,” or “It ain’t over ’til it’s over.”

Obama made the remark after he had been introduced by Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi. This is what the president said, according to Der Spiegel:

“It is important that we do not sell short the results of this summit. The press would like us to have conflicts. Instead we have attained great achievements. And it is important that we exude confidence.”[Obama] then lowered his voice: “It is true, as my Italian friend has said, that the crisis began in the US. I take responsibility, even if I wasn’t even president at the time.”

Der Spiegel then continued:

The others couldn’t believe their ears. Was that really a confession of guilt from the US? Was it a translation error, or at least an inaccuracy? Afterwards, this sentence fueled long discussions among the members of the German delegation. German Chancellor Angela Merkel was so impressed by Obama’s statement that she rushed to tell her finance minister, Peer Steinbrück. Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso reacted immediately: The proposal to hold the next summit not in Japan, but rather in the US, is something that he no longer rejects, he says, “now that the US has shouldered responsibility.”

Germany, it should be noted, has a certain fixation with the idea of blame and responsibility. The statement from Obama might also be helping the Germans make sense of the financial crisis. And, as cliches remind us, Germans crave ordnung (order).

A recent column in The New York Times attempted to unravel why Germany attended the G-20 summit intent on assuaging the global financial crisis by developing more regulations. The country, according to the column by Nicolas Kulish, has undertaken a “concerted effort to permanently banish the instability and violence that have marked its history. That sense of insecurity includes Germany’s forced division in the cold war, the Nazi era and the hyperinflation of the 1920s, but it also stretches at least as far back as the Thirty Years’ War in the 17th century, which decimated much of the German territories and population, and was a formative trauma.”

Germany attended the summit with its wallet closed tightly, resisting calls from Obama for more stimulus spending. The prominent coverage of US “responsibility” – with Obama’s remarks being treated less like a political statement than the confession of a bank robber – offers further evidence of a country not eager to pick up the tab for cleaning up this mess.
