Cities Collapsing throughout the USA

"With enough abandoned lots to fill the city of San Francisco, Motown is 138 square miles divided between expanses of decay and emptiness and tracts of still-functioning communities and commercial areas. Close to six barren acres of an estimated 17,000 have already been turned into 500 "mini- farms," demonstrating the lengths to which planners will go to make land productive.
The city, like the automakers, has to shrink to match what's left, said June Thomas, a professor of urban and regional planning at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
"The issue is how," she said. "There's no vision."
"People are moving out of the city, trying to find work," said David Martin of Wayne State University's Urban Safety Program. Those who stay "can't afford to move out."

A $200 billion lawsuit filed on behalf of shareholders of American International Group has been amended to include Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, former Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and former Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Christopher Cox as defendants.

The case, filed earlier by a public interest law firm, Freedom Watch USA, is on behalf of shareholders of AIG who have watched the value of the company plummet by some $214 billion.

The class action lawsuit filed in federal court in Los Angeles is a "wide reaching" claim that will do what Congress cannot, said Freedom Watch USA founder Larry Klayman.

"The American people, not the compromised ruling elite in Washington, D.C., have begun a second American Revolution to take the country back from the con men on Wall Street, and on Pennsylvania Avenue – who under successive administrations played a central role in the meltdown of the U.S. financial system and economy," Klayman said.

President Obama

An official in the office of Kentucky's elections chief has referred to state Attorney General Jack Conway for investigation the issue of Barack Obama's eligibility to be president.

In a letter to Conway, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Leslie A. Fugate noted the issue of "President Barack Obama's eligibility to be on the ballot in Kentucky."

"Because our office does not have investigative powers … we are referring the matter to your office," she wrote.

The letter followed a visit to elections officials by California attorney

Orly Taitz, who is working through her Defend Our Freedoms Foundation on several court cases challenging Obama's eligibility.

A committee of concerned citizens accompanied Taitz to Fugate's office to ask that the eligibility issue be investigated.

Jerusalem stammers, Washington deaf to Iran's race for nuke

DEBKAfile Exclusive Analysis

Israeli PM Binyamin Netanyahu. What change?

Israeli PM Binyamin Netanyahu. What change?

For most of the past decade, Washington and successive Israeli governments have shunted over to "the international community" and "diplomatic engagement" Iran's hell-bent race for nuclear armament and the missiles for its delivery. New administrations have just taken over in the United States and Israel – but nothing has changed. Incoming secretary of state Hillary Clinton decided skepticism about Iranian claims of nuclear successes was the better part of valor, while Binyamin Netanyahu parroted the timorous evasions of his predecessors, Ariel Sharon, Ehud Olmert and Tzipi Livni, which left Tehran free to go its own way.

Thursday, April 9, Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad exhibited his country's illicit achievements: a complete nuclear fuel cycle and two new high-capacity enrichment centrifuges. He had no fear of retribution. Astonishingly, Clinton replied that she did not view his claims as a rebuff to US overtures to engage Tehran, although his boasts came the day after the five Security Council permanent members and Germany offered Tehran benefits for talks in which the US would be for the first time fully engaged.

Her consignment of Iran to insuring that the UN International Atomic Energy Agency was "a source of credible information…" must have amused veteran Iranian hands even in Washington.

For nine years or more, the IAEA has missed every twist and turn on the roads to a bomb followed by Iran and North Korea, starting from the nuclear black market run by Pakistan's Dr. A.Q. Khan for the benefit of Iran, North Korea and Libya, then North Korea's nuclear arsenal and ballistic development, followed by Syria's plutonium reactor. Now comes Iran's nuclear advances in barefaced defiance of the "international community," a week after North Korea test fired a long-range missile which the US and its allies failed to deter or intercept.

As for Jerusalem, a "top source" said lamely that "Israel does not object to talks between the West and Iran as long as Iran does not take advantage of these talks" - which is exactly what Tehran has been doing for years and is not about to stop now.

"Israel expects the international community [again] to act firmly to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons," the source said. Oh yes? Isn't that where we came in three governments ago?

Iran will be a central issue in the talks Netanyahu is scheduled to hold with Barak Obama in Washington early next month, said the same "top source."

If the Obama administration proposes to rely on the IAEA's findings in its dealings with Iran, as Clinton proposes, the Israeli prime minister had better not get his hopes up about any real action to stop the Islamic Republic's race to a bomb.

As for a long-range missile for delivering a nuclear warhead, that too went unnoticed when it was paraded by Tehran in the guise of a satellite launch last month.

Jerusalem's response to Ahmadinejad's disclosures was in sharp contrast to Binyamin Netanyahu's statement before the swearing-in of his new government on March 31: "The primary imperative for the United States and President Barack Obama is to put an end to Iran's nuclear race," he said. "If the US failed to do so Israel might be forced to resort to a military strike on the Islamic Republic's nuclear installations," he said, adding: "You don't want a messianic apocalyptic cult controlling atomic bombs."

The new Israeli prime minister placed two items at the top of his own administration's agenda: the economic recession and the Iranian nuclear threat. His opening verbal shot against the second was more like a damp squid.

Spanning 39,598 square miles, Virginia has a population of almost 7.5 million residents. Roughly half of these residents are concentrated in the northern Virginia, central Virginia, and Hampton Roads regions. All three of these regions feature ethnically diverse populations with cultural ties to the Middle East, the horn of Africa, Southeast Asia, and other areas heavily impacted by terrorist activities.

Virginia’s network of colleges and universities also represent a potential avenue of entry for terrorist operatives and a possible forum for recruitment of sympathizers.

European Protesters: Lead Indicator of Violent Social Unrest

April 9, 2009 | From

Loaded guns and burning buildings at the Strasbourg protests are the stepping stone from protests to upheavals.

Between 10,000 and 30,000 protesters rampaged through Strasbourg last Saturday, burning a hotel and two other buildings and attacking police. Several of the rioters were arrested while carrying loaded guns, according to security sources.

Police arrested a total of 300 protesters before and during the nato summit. The rioters barricaded roads, hurled rocks and scaffolding at police, and threw Molotov cocktails at a hotel, which caught on fire. They also burned a pharmacy, a tourist office and a disused customs post.

French firefighters fled across the border into Germany, and French police guarding the Bridge of Europe—the road bridge running over the Rhine connecting France and Germany—fell back before the rioters. This left German police, sandwiched between French protesters on one side and German protesters on the other, to hold the bridge against a barrage of stones and bottles hurled at them by rioters who had blockaded both ends of the bridge.

Although the worst in several years, the protests were not as bad as others at similar events in the past. In 2001, protests against a European Union summit attended by President George W. Bush got out of control and Swedish police shot four people. Another protester was shot by police at a G-8 summit later that year.

Violent protests died down somewhat after September 11, but they are now picking up again. The New York Times reports, “The economic downturn appears to have reinvigorated European protest movements.”

One antiwar activist stated, “Our message is jobs, not bombs, and welfare not warfare. The era of protest has returned.”

The global credit crisis is a perfect catalyst for social unrest. As people take to the streets to demand more money from their governments, those governments—especially in Eastern Europe—are running out of money and having to cut back even more on spending.

As discontent rises in Europe, watch for European leaders to increasingly throw their weight behind a strong centralized government, led by a strong man backed by a strong global institution.

Secret Nazi Memo: Is It Coming to Pass?

The Trumpet keeps a keen eye on Germany. For nearly two decades, we have waited, watched and written about the emergence of a globally dominant, German-led bloc of European states. We have warned specifically that a spectacular global financial crisis, centered in the United States, will likely bring this event to fruition.

We are not entirely alone in this expectation.

The following is a snippet from a secret memorandum written by high-ranking German officers and distributed among an elite group of leading Germans in Bonn and other parts of the world. It is an electrifying picture of current events: “Economic difficulties will one day plunge the United States down from its present dizzy heights. Such a catastrophe can be brought about through crafty manipulations and through artificially engendered crises. Such maneuvers are routine measures which have already been employed in international power struggle and will be used again and again as long as economic rivals fight for power positions and markets in the world.

“It is quite conceivable that America, weakened by a depression, will one day seek support from a resurrected Germany. Such a prospect would open tremendous possibilities for the future power position of a bloc introducing a new order in the world.”

That was written in 1950. It can be found in T.H. Tetens’s 1953 book, Germany Plots With the Kremlin.

Its prescience is chilling.

Survey the current global financial crisis and the changes it is precipitating. With its economic landscape strewn with surging unemployment lines, collapsing stocks, and rotting corpses of banks, financial institutions and businesses, it’s hard to deny “economic difficulties” are bringing America “down from its … dizzying heights.” Similarly, piles of evidence—think Bernie Madoff, Lehman Brothers and liberal bank lending standards—testify to “crafty manipulations” as a root cause of this crisis.

What about the notion that “artificially engendered crises” precipitated by foreign forces are also partly to blame for the collapse of the American financial system?

British author and historian Sara Moore has delved into this historically significant, eerily familiar trend. Armed with facts and historical precedent, Moore detailed in the May 2008 and January/February 2009 issues of European Journal how Germany, employing a formula similar to what it used in the 1930s, is craftily manipulating EU economic policy in order to undermine the U.S.

One fundamental cause of the credit crisis in America, Moore suggests, was Germany’s exploitation of the euro. This interesting argument deserves close scrutiny.

When the euro first came online in January 1999, the European Central Bank (ecb)—headquartered in Frankfurt, patterned after Germany’s Bundesbank and heavily influenced by Germans—ensured interest rates remained at or around 2 percent. This was done, in part, to help stabilize and promote the growth of the German economy. By maintaining low interest rates, Moore says, the German-led ecb caused global investors to flock to higher-yielding U.S. treasuries, distorting money markets and facilitating easy credit in America.

The ecb’s policy, Moore says, helped prime American credit markets for rupture.

This became inevitable after December 2005, when the ecb, having maintained low interest rates for years, raised interest rates seven times in a row. By late 2007, with Europe offering higher, increasingly attractive interest rates, cash was flowing briskly into Europe, and less briskly into America. Together with the housing crisis, the ecb’s calculated diversion of money away from America and into Europe was at least partly responsible for the American credit crisis. According to Moore, it was when the ecb raised its interest rates for the eighth consecutive time in July 2008, that “stock markets round the world collapsed.”

The idea that Germany precipitated the current global economic crisis is intriguing. It’s an argument that grows stronger if you factor in the documented proof showing German leaders planned 60 years ago that an “artificially [German-]engendered” crisis would one day bring the U.S. economy down, and send America scrambling to Germany for assistance.

Barely a day passes without a chorus of American voices—journalists, economists, business leaders and politicians—requesting Europe, particularly Germany, to do more to rescue the Continent and the rest of the world from the economic chaos. Prominent economist Paul Krugman lamented in the March 16 New York Times that Europe isn’t doing nearly enough to combat the global economic downturn. Recently, President Barack Obama asked that Europe, especially Germany, lighten the burden of the global economic crisis by enacting larger stimulus packages for flailing European economies. It is not uncommon to hear world leaders talking about the need for a new world order—one, many agree, that needs to be centered in Europe.

“It is quite conceivable that America, weakened by a depression, will one day seek support from a resurrected Germany,” that secret memo said. Indeed. And truly, as this predicament intensifies, it will continue to create “tremendous possibilities” for Germany.

Watch Germany intently. We don’t know if the men who wrote that memo in 1950 are still alive today. That is inconsequential. The more important question is: Is their strategy for a German new world order still being pursued?

It is becoming harder to deny that it is!

Some will look at the global economic meltdown and the fact that it is causing both Europe and America to rely more on Germany, admit that this aligns perfectly with documented Germanic designs, and consider it a coincidence. But doesn’t Germany’s age-old penchant for global dominion, its provocative role in the two largest wars in history, the documentation that, after World War ii, Nazis planned to do it again, the current explosive and uncertain world conditions, and the nightmare scenario of another holocaust, make this a subject worthy of deep investigation?

On top of that, the Holy Bible—and what the Apostle Peter termed the “more sure word of prophecy”—has much to say about Germany’s role in end-time world events that aligns perfectly with these facts. If you want proof, request your free copies of The United States and Britain in Prophecy and Germany and the Holy Roman Empire.

Ahmadinejad inaugurates Iran's first nuclear fuel plant – "We are a nuclear power!"

DEBKAfile Special Report

Covert plutonium production at Arak

Covert plutonium production at Arak

Cutting the ribbon on Iran's first nuclear fuel plant at Isfahan, Thursday, April 9, Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad triumphantly marked a major breakthrough at a ceremony marking Iran's fourth national nuclear day. The day after the five UN Security Council powers and Germany offered Tehran economic incentives for negotiations on uranium enrichment, he inaugurated a plant for producing fuel rods for Iran's heavy water plant in Arak and its nuclear reactor in Bushehr, thereby reducing the Islamic Republic's fuel dependence Russia which built the reactor.

DEBKAfile's military sources: The Isfahan plant takes Iran's nuclear reactors another big step outside the purview of international inspections. The International Atomic Energy Agency, which has complained often of Iran's tricks of concealment, will find it doubly difficult to track the uses Iran makes of nuclear fuel the closer it comes to mastering the complete fuel cycle.

Our sources believe that Tehran will have attained this goal before the end of 2009. According to Israeli and Western intelligence sources, this would also put the Arak heavy plant on the fast track for the manufacture of plutonium, alongside the weapons-grade enrichment of uranium.

Ahmadinejad furthermore claimed that Iran had developed a new kind of fast centrifuges for the rapid processing large quantities of enriched uranium.

These disclosures followed the concession announced by US secretary of state Hillary Clinton that her government would be fully involved in the talks with Tehran proposed by the 5+1 powers Wednesday. The first round of talks from 2007 and 2008 petered out when Tehran kept on asking for more time to review the generous incentives on offer and ended up refusing to give up uranium enrichment.

Ahmadinejad's Isfahan announcement told Washington and the other five powers that their offer of talks and incentives for discontinuing nuclear enrichment were now irrelevant; Tehran's nuclear program had progressed way point that point.

DEBKAfile's Iranian sources add that Iran's rulers, having won all the time they needed to bring their nuclear weapons program to fruition, are now made doubly cocky by being courted by the Obama administration's willingness to expand the agenda of their dialogue beyond the nuclear issue to Iran's role in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. Tehran calculates that for the sake of its cooperation in resolving these conflicts, the US administration will give way on its nuclear drive.

Disarmament Leads to War

April 9, 2009 | From

Despite America’s ambitious attempt to eliminate nuclear weapons, atomic warfare is inevitable.

Disarmament is a noble aspiration. But it can never be “attained by mush, slush and gush,” Winston Churchill exhorted in 1932.

Throughout the 1930s the warning howl of Britain’s lone bulldog was ignored, marginalized to obscurity by a government enamored with the virtues of disarmament. That changed in 1939. On September 1, German bombers began razing Polish cities and Hitler’s impeccably organized, well-trained and heavily rearmed army marched into Poland. Meanwhile, Britain was unprepared and grossly under-armed. Disarmament’s shortcomings were painfully obvious.

Britain’s policy of disarmament had dressed the aggressor and stripped the victims. By doing so, it made conflict inevitable.

The lesson is prescient. Speaking before a live audience of 20,000 in Prague on Sunday, United States President Barack Obama gushed about the “future of nuclear weapons in the 21st century” and America’s “moral responsibility” to “seek the peace and security of a world without nuclear weapons.” It was more than mere rhetoric; he articulated a comprehensive strategy for global nuclear disarmament.

Farah was stunned once again that no major news agencies in the world even deemed to question the administration about what he meant.

The concern over President Obama's eligibility to be president under the U.S. Constitution's demand that the office be occupied by a "natural born" citizen is spreading, with additional writers conceding questions remain about the dispute.

President Obama

"Yes, there were ambiguities about Obama's birth certificate that have never been satisfactorily resolved. And the embargo on Obama's educational records remains troubling," wrote Camille Paglia, a progressive author and columnist at

Her commentary addresses Obama's "painful missteps," and she addressed charges that Obama has suffered from poor advice.

"The buck stops with the top executive. But we all know how little executive experience Barack Obama has had. He was elected for his vision and his steady, deliberative character, not his résumé. For better or worse, Obama is learning as he goes – and surely most fair-minded people would grant him reasonable leeway as he grows into the presidency, one of the hardest jobs in the world," she wrote.

"At a certain point, however, Obama will face an inescapable administrative crux. Arriving at the White House, he understandably stayed in his comfort zone by bringing old friends and allies with him …. But these comrades may not have the practical skills or broad perspective to help Obama govern," wrote Paglia.

Hezbollah Agents Flood Into America

April 8, 2009 | From

Iran is using the Mexican drug cartels to smuggle terrorists onto American soil. By Andrew Miiller

Lebanese immigrants from all over Tijuana flocked to the café under the sign with the cedar tree, the emblem of their home country. There they would find Salim Boughader Mucharrafille—the café owner who drove a Mercedes and catered to some of Tijuana’s most affluent denizens, including workers at the U.S. Consulate just a short stroll away. Behind all this facade, however, the savvy boss of La Libanesa cafe ran a less reputable business on the side.

Until the day he was arrested in December 2002, Boughader smuggled about 200 of his Lebanese compatriots across the border into the United States. Many of them were members or supporters of the Lebanese terrorist organization Hezbollah. One client who was smuggled into America even worked for a Hezbollah-owned television network that glorifies suicide bombers and is on an American terror watch list.

The most disturbing part about this smuggling operation is that it wasn’t unique. Boughader may have been locked up, yet the threat posed by Hezbollah-affiliated migrants crossing the border into the U.S. has never been more serious.

Former chief of operations at the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, Michael Braun, has confirmed that Hezbollah has formed a partnership with the drug cartels in Mexico and is using the cartel smuggling routes to get people and contraband into the U.S.

“They work together,” Braun told the Washington Times. “They rely on the same shadow facilitators. One way or another, they are all connected.”

Braun’s comments were confirmed by six other American officials, including law enforcement, defense and counterterrorism specialists.

The smuggling routes used by the Mexican drug lords are growing more sophisticated as more money pours into their hands from American drug users. Some cross-border tunnels are now located nine stories underground and equipped with lighting, ventilation and groundwater drainage systems. Hezbollah agents are infiltrating the U.S. through these organized smuggling routes. This is a major national security threat to America.

The leaders in Iran are cooperating with populist demagogues in Latin American countries like Venezuela and Bolivia in an attempt to undermine America. When Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad met with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in 2006, he embraced him and saluted “all revolutionaries who oppose world hegemony.” Yet, as the National Review Online reports, “The public love-fest between Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez is just the tip of a sinister iceberg.”

Weekly flights between Iran and Venezuela are not monitored for personnel or cargo. It was this type of negligence that turned the Beirut International Airport into a terrorist hub in the late 1980s. Turkish customs officials found lab equipment for making explosives in a container labeled “tractor parts” en route from Iran to Venezuela earlier this year. What other deadly shipments have the Iranians sent to America’s southern neighbors that have not been intercepted?

“We have seen … an increase in a wide level of activity by the Iranian government in this region,” Navy Adm. James Stavridis, who oversees U.S. military interests in the region as head of U.S. Southern Command, said last month. “That is a concern principally because of the connections between the government of Iran, which is a state sponsor of terrorism, and Hezbollah.”

Connect the dots and it becomes apparent that the mullahs of Iran are cooperating with the caudillos of Latin America in order to get aid and supplies to the Hezbollah operatives stationed in the region. These Hezbollah agents in turn are cooperating with local drug cartel networks as a means of raising funds and getting into the U.S. undetected.

According to Braun, members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards have also recently been showing up in Latin America. “Quite frankly, I’m not opposed to the belief that they could be commanding and controlling Hezbollah’s criminal enterprises from there,” he said.

So far, there has been no major Hezbollah-initiated terrorist strike on American soil. Yet, just as Iran directed Hezbollah to hold off from joining the Hamas-led offensive against Israel last January, so Iran could be directing Hezbollah to hold off on any strike against America until other things are in place. This much is for certain: Hezbollah operatives have infiltrated the U.S. by using drug cartel smuggling routes, and these operatives want to see America fall.

Iran has the capacity to unleash a massive wave of suicide strikes and terrorist attacks against America. This would in turn unleash untold social chaos across the nation.

Saudis also dismayed by Obama's seeming tolerance of nuclear Iran

DEBKAfile Exclusive Report

April 7, 2009, 10:15 AM (GMT+02:00)

A chilly encounter

A chilly encounter

President Barack Obama's declaration in the Turkish parliament Monday, April 6, that the US is not at war with Islam provided cold comfort in Riyadh and Cairo, where his drastic policy shift of détente with Tehran, first revealed by DEBKA-Net-Weekly last month, is causing jitters.

The Financial Times' prediction that the US "may cede to Iran's nuclear ambition" only added to the unease in the Middle East at large.

On the sidelines of the G20 summit in London, Saudi King Abdullah made his views known in a face-to-face interview with the US president on April 2. The White House communiqué reported blandly: Obama and Abdullah discussed international cooperation regarding the global economy, regional political and security issues, and cooperation against terrorism.

Iran was not mentioned. However, according to DEBKAfile's Middle East sources, Abdullah took the US president sternly to task over his emerging policy on Iran, Syria and Iraq, accusing him to giving the Islamic Republic free rein for its nuclear, expansionist and terrorism-sponsoring Middle East policies.

Both parties tried to keep their abrasive encounter away from the public eye and their media, although the photo attached betrays its chilly atmosphere.

The Financial Times was the first Western mainstream publication to pick up on the new pro-Iran policy trend dominating Obama's Washington: "US officials are considering whether to accept Iran's pursuit of uranium enrichment… discussing whether the US will eventually have to accept Iran's insistence on carrying out the process."

The newspaper quoted Trita Parsi, president of the National Iranian American Council as warning: "The US may still have zero as its opening position [in its dialogue with Iran], while recognizing it may not be where things stand at the end of a potential agreement."

DEBKAfile's military sources fear that Tehran has been given a free run to perfect its ability to make bombs and warheads in the shortest possible time from the moment of decision.

Our sources report that the US president's two-day stay in Ankara and his words of peace towards the Muslim world were seen in Riyadh and Cairo as ignoring the most pressing concerns of the leading Muslim Arab powers of the region.

Israeli leaders have been less reticent about their concerns. President Shimon Peres pointed out to visiting US congressmen in Jerusalem Monday that Iran has hoodwinked the entire world in its drive for a nuclear bomb whose main target would be the Jewish state; Israel's population is short of adequate means of self-defense. Deputy Chief of Staff, Maj. Gen. Dan Harel warned that a nuclear-armed Iran would shield Middle East terror groups, so magnifying the threat to Israel manifold. But, he added, the IDF was fully capable of backing up any government decision to tackle this existential threat.

Prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu diplomatically praised President Obama for his renewed commitment to Israeli security, omitting mention of Iran in the same way as he ignored the US president's demand for a Palestinian state to rise alongside Israel in his speech to parliament in Ankara. Netanyahu commented that his new government is in the process of formulating its policies. This left him an opening to dispute administration polices when he arrives in Washington on May 3.

President Obama

A security analyst who provides intelligence information to a wide range of law enforcement, private corporation and security interests has written in a publicly released "white paper" that the issue of Barack Obama's eligibility to be president could become a "flashpoint" in the United States.

The suggestion comes from Lyle Rapacki, a former police officer who has worked in the field of psychological disorders for years. Since the 1990s, he has provided his analysis, both in public "white paper" reports as well as classified documents, to various safety and security interests.

Rapacki's report cited the continuing controversy over Obama's birth certificate and a long list of lawsuits that have alleged he is not eligible to be president under the Constitution's requirement that the office be occupied only by a "natural born" citizen.

If the president would be found to be ineligible, Rapacki suggested, there would be a "constitutional crisis" over which of his orders, laws and actions "should be valid."

Why are there still questions about qualifications? Arguments of president's defenders never actually addressed eligibility

In the last few months, dozens of U.S. courts have dismissed legal challenges to Barack Obama's constitutional eligibility to occupy the Oval Office, and even the U.S. Supreme Court has refused to hold a hearing on the evidence – but what have the courts actually cited as reasons for dismissing the concerns of millions of Americans?

Mootness, lack of jurisdiction, lack of responsibility, lack of standing, a series of "no comments" and even the fact the issue has been "twittered."

The one subject that has been avoided to date has been whether or not the president is, in fact, eligible.

So far, there have been two definitive statements on the issue that have been made public, including one from an Obama campaign spokeswoman talking about the challenges who told WND, "All I can tell you is that it is just pure garbage."

The other is from Chiyome Fukino, the director of the Hawaiian Department of Health, who issued a statement, "I as Director of Health for the State of Hawaii, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures."

Robert Moran monitors an electric grid in Dallas. Such infrastructure grids across the country are vulnerable to cyberattacks.

WASHINGTON -- Cyberspies have penetrated the U.S. electrical grid and left behind software programs that could be used to disrupt the system, according to current and former national-security officials.

The spies came from China, Russia and other countries, these officials said, and were believed to be on a mission to navigate the U.S. electrical system and its controls. The intruders haven't sought to damage the power grid or other key infrastructure, but officials warned they could try during a crisis or war.

"The Chinese have attempted to map our infrastructure, such as the electrical grid," said a senior intelligence official. "So have the Russians."
