My Personal choice for a 1911 pistol remains the same = the Springfield Armory 1911-A1 Mil-spec version in the parkerized version. I would not buy the SS model because most of the parts are chrome plated carbon steel, its just smoke and mirrors. YOU CAN NOT GO WRONG WITH BUYING THIS PARKERIZED VERSION OF THE MIL-SPEC.
I would not buy the Colt 1911, or the SW 1911, or the Taurus 1911, or the Les Baer 1911, or the Charles Daly 1911, or any of the Kimber 1911 pistols, I would not buy anything that Para Ordnance makes and sells. That covers many of them but there are more that I would never buy.
The 1911 was designed to be used with a 5 inch barrel, buying a short slide is worthless in my opinion, the very smallest I would consider is the commander size but you only save 3/4 of an inch of the slide so its of no great saving.

SURVIVAL HANDGUN
My choice still remains the Glock pistol in 9mm because it works and works well. Parts and springs and accessories are available nation wide. These Glocks that I like are the mini 26 and the medium model 19 and the large model 17. You can buy two Glock pistols for the price of one Sig Sauer or HK pistol. Its not that easy to find parts for the sig or the hk pistol, hard to change an extractor when you are in Afghanistan. The GLOCK is far better in every category.

SA "XD" PISTOL
I would not buy one. Try buying and changing the extractor.

SIG SAUER PISTOL
I would not buy any new model. They use MIM parts and they use an antiquated hammer reset spring design that even HK was smart enough to drop from their line.

HK PISTOL
I would no longer buy any HK pistol as parts are too difficult to find and purchase. I still think the out of production HK P7 is the finest 9mm on the planet, especially for a south paw like me. You can buy 2 glock magazines for the price of one HK magazine providing you can even locate one.

SW PRODUCTS.
I hope their mens cologne is better than their line of handguns. They use all MIM parts in their pistols and revolvers and the lock on their revolvers are mickey mouse. Their president should go back to the Kohler plumbing company as in my opinion he ruined their product. Would I but any new SW product ?? "NEVER"

These pistols are made by the son of Rev. Moon of the Moonies. They have a poor trigger return system except for the ELITE 98. They are over priced and I would not buy one.

I like the 92FS, I would buy one. I like the discontinued Cougar model 8000. I would never buy the new polymer model P4 STORM pistol because they use a polymer feed ramp on the frame, they were too cheap to install a steel insert.

Report: U.S. Will Attack Iran | ||

Israel’s Army Radio is reporting that President Bush intends to launch a military strike against Iran before the end of his term.
The Army Radio, a network operated by the Israeli Defense Forces, quoted a government source in Jerusalem. The source disclosed that a senior official close to Bush said in a closed meeting that Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney believed military action against Iran was now called for.
Bush concluded a trip to Israel last week, where he said, "The objective of the United States must be to . . . support our strongest ally and friend in the Middle East.”
The Radio report, which was quoted by the Jerusalem Post, disclosed that the recent turmoil in Lebanon, where the Iranian-backed group Hezbollah had seized virtual control of the country, was encouraging an American attack. Hezbollah’s aggression in Lebanon is seen as evidence of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s growing influence, and the U.S. official said that in Bush’s view, “the disease must be treated, not its symptoms,” according to the Post. The White House on Tuesday denied the Army Radio report, saying in a statement: “As the president has said, no president of the United States should ever take options off the table, but our preference and our actions for dealing with this matter remain through peaceful diplomatic means. Nothing has changed in that regard.” However, numerous signs point to a U.S. strike on Iran in the near future:
Adm. Michael Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said at a recent Pentagon briefing that the Iranians are systematically importing and training Shiite militia fighters, who slip back across the Iraqi border to kill American troops. And Israeli intelligence has predicted that Iran will acquire its first nuclear device in 2009, much earlier than previous U.S. estimates.
