Israel's security suffered a major setback on the eve of its homeland war-safety exercise (starting Sunday, May 23) from three Obama administration concessions that were granted to buy Moscow's backing for UN Security Council sanctions against Iran. One was the deletion of an embargo on sophisticated weaponry, including the suspended sale of Russian S-300 systems sought by Tehran for shooting down any US or Israel warplanes attacking its nuclear sites.
As Israel prepared to drill millions of the country's civilians to prepare for synchronized assault by hundreds of rockets and missiles from Iran, Syria, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, Washington awarded Moscow, i.e. Tehran, three additional gains.
US officials indicated they did not rule out a new round of nuclear negotiations with Tehran - even after the Brazilian-Turkish-mediated enriched uranium deal signed with Iran last Monday, May 17.

And on Friday, May 21, the administration scrapped sanctions against the Russian state arms export agency and three other Russian entities that were penalized in the past for transferring sensitive technology or weapons to Iran. Also lifted were sanctions against a fourth Russian entity for illicit arms sales to Syria, including technology for developing the very missiles against which Israel's five-day exercise is preparing the public next week.

Our Washington sources report that the Obama administration bought Russia's backing for a weak UN sanctions resolution by giving way on penalties detrimental to Iran's economy or impeding its nuclear program. America thus opened the door for Russia to start training Iranian S-300 missile crews - without Israeli raising its voice in protest in either capital.

Tzachi Hanegbi, chairman of the Knesset foreign affairs and security committee, reaffirmed in a TV Channel One interview Friday night that a nuclear-armed Iran would imperil Israel's very existence. He, like many other Israelis in official positions, strongly gainsays assertions to the contrary by defense minister Ehud Barak.
Saturday, after the new US concessions came to light, administration officials tried to allay criticism in Congress by claiming that Moscow had improved its performance on Iran and would stand by its understanding with Washington not to proceed with the S-300 sale.
However, the training of Iranian operating crews looks more like bringing the sale forward than holding it back.
debkafile's Iranian sources point out that in five short days - since accepting the Brazilian-Turkish uranium swap deal - Tehran has substantially enhanced its international and strategic position in four critical areas:
1. Tough UN sanctions are off the table, leaving individual governments the freedom to proceed, or not, with unilateral penalties against Iran's nuclear violations.
2. The heavily-diluted UN draft omits any mention of energy bans, such the refined oil products, a provision formerly advocated by Washington as the most effective means of forcing Iran to abandon its drive for a nuclear weapon.
3. Not only has the notion of a sea blockade gone by the board, but heavy restrictions are clamped down on searches of vessels suspected of carrying contraband military or nuclear cargoes, for which permission must now be requested by the nation flagged. This allows Iran and Syria to safely import nuclear materials and missiles by sea without fear of interception.
Even before the haggling begins, therefore, the new "sanctions" draft before the UN Security Council scarcely answers to its description.
4. The Obama administration's inclination to treat the new uranium exchange deal brokered by Brazil and Turkey as the Six-Power Group's springboard for bringing Tehran back to the negotiating table offers Iran the gift of more time and space to achieve its ultimate objective of a nuclear weapon.
Military sources point out to debkafile, that Washington's uneven and inconsistent approach to Iran and Syria make naught of the protestations made by President Obama and other US officials of their unshakeable commitment to Israel's security. The unhindered delivery of S-300 missiles to Iran, like the latest Russian arms deal with Syria, substantially offsets Israel's capacity to deter its enemies. Not only are its air force pilots placed in harm's way; so too is the country's entire population.

debkafile's military sources report a decision by the Obama administration to boost US military strength in the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf regions in the short term with an extra air and naval strike forces and 6,000 Marine and sea combatants. Carrier Strike Group 10, headed by the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier, sails out of the US Navy base at Norfolk, Virginia Friday, May 21. On arrival, it will raise the number of US carriers off Iranian shores to two. Up until now, President Barack Obama kept just one aircraft carrier stationed off the coast of Iran, the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in the Arabian Sea, in pursuit of his policy of diplomatic engagement with Tehran.
For the first time, too, the US force opposite Iran will be joined by a German warship, the frigate FGS Hessen, operating under American command.
It is also the first time that Obama, since taking office 14 months ago, is sending military reinforcements to the Persian Gulf. Our military sources have learned that the USS Truman is just the first element of the new buildup of US resources around Iran. It will take place over the next three months, reaching peak level in late July and early August. By then, the Pentagon plans to have at least 4 or 5 US aircraft carriers visible from Iranian shores.
The USS Truman's accompanying Strike Group includes Carrier Air Wing Three (Battle Axe) - which has 7 squadrons - 4 of F/A-18 Super Hornet and F/A-18 Hornet bomber jets, as well as spy planes and early warning E-2 Hawkeyes that can operate in all weather conditions; the Electronic Attack Squadron 130 for disrupting enemy radar systems; and Squadron 7 of helicopters for anti-submarine combat (In its big naval exercise last week, Iran exhibited the Velayat 89 long-range missile for striking US aircraft carriers and Israel warships from Iranian submarines.)
Another four US warships will be making their way to the region to join the USS Truman and its Strike Group. They are the guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy and guided missile destroyers USS Winston S. Churchill, USS Oscar Austin and USS Ross.

debkafile's military sources disclose that the 6,000 Marines and sailors aboard the Truman Strike Group come from four months of extensive and thorough training to prepare them for anticipated missions in the Persian Gulf and the Mediterranean.

Now Imminent: Britain’s Exodus From Europe

Another decades-old prophecy is about to be fulfilled.

The more time that passes since the European Union announced its €750 billion rescue package for the eurozone, the more we seem to discover about the severity of the financial crisis ripping through Europe.

How serious is it?

Last Thursday Angela Merkel, the normally reserved chancellor of Germany, told the German parliament that “nothing less than the future of Europe is at stake.” Extreme measures must be taken, Merkel warned, to “avoid a chain reaction to the European and international financial system ….” In Poland later that day, Merkel stated that the crisis was the “greatest test Europe has faced since 1990, if not in the 53 years since the passage of the Treaties of Rome.” Think on that: The leader of the most influential country in the EU believes the union could be facing its greatest challenge since its inception over half a century ago.

Truly, we are at this very moment—and in the days and weeks ahead—witnessing the most transformative period in Europe since World War ii!

It won’t be long before the political and economic ramifications of Europe’s ongoing financial crisis will be felt globally. In the immediate term, however, one nation in particular will experience the tectonic shifts now underway in European politics and finance.

Just as Europe was approaching financial meltdown, Britain was bogged down in a post-election leadership crisis. General elections in Britain took place May 6, but it took till May 11 before a clear-cut victor emerged to take Britain’s helm. During the four days in which the UK was essentially headless, events of terrific magnitude unfolded in Europe.

On May 10, with British politics in complete disarray, the German-led European Union made a bold move toward greater financial and political control over Europe!

When you think on the news of Europe’s financial crisis over the last two weeks, what personalities come to mind? French President Nicolas Sarkozy dominated the headlines; so did Angela Merkel and Greek President Karolos Papoulias, as well as personalities from the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Even President Barack Obama made the front page. Meanwhile, as the massive financial crisis unraveled across the Channel, Gordon Brown, Nick Clegg and David Cameron were as elusive as the Scarlet Pimpernel.

The relative silence of Britain’s leaders between May 6 and May 11 is all the more alarming when you consider the fiscal and political ramifications for Britain of the trillion-dollar bailout. For example, within 48 hours of the EU announcing the rescue package for eurozone states, the European Commission had proposed its first set of economic reforms for Europe. First, mechanisms ought to be created to more consistently enforce punishment of a member state if it breaches EU rules on budget deficits and federal debt. Second, surveillance of the fiscal operations of EU member states by the European Commission must be stepped up. Third, national budgets of EU member states will be vetted by the European Commission before implementation.

These conditions may have been proposed by the European Commission, but they are being energetically promoted by Berlin.

“Berlin has written some very large checks to ameliorate the economic crisis,” Stratfor explained last week, and in return, “Germany wants to redefine how the eurozone is run.” In the short term, and while the threat of “financial Armageddon” still looms, this will “prompt potentially momentous institutional changes in Europe” (May 14; emphasis mine throughout). Yesterday, Germany’s Spiegel Online reported: “In addition to pushing for increased regulation of hedge funds and of the financial markets, Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government has drafted a list of proposals to revamp the European common currency. From suspending voting rights to national bankruptcy proceedings, the plan is far-reaching.”

How far-reaching are Germany’s designs on Europe?

“Just when you thought the EU could not go any further down the road towards authoritarian excess, it gets worse,” wrote the Telegraph’s Ambrose Evans-Pritchard in response to the idea of the European Commission, under the watchful eyes of Berlin, of vetting the budgets of EU member states (May 14). Under this new condition, “EU finance ministers will pass judgment on the British (or Dutch, or Danish, or French) budgets before the elected bodies of these ancient and sovereign nations have seen the proposals,” he warned.

“Did we not we not fight the English Civil War and kill a king over such a prerogative?” Evans-Pritchard lamented.

Of course, Britain can do what it has always done when it comes to EU initiatives it does not like: It can refuse to participate or simply drag its feet in implementing them. Essentially, this is what it did last week, when after agreeing to contribute £13 billion to the EU rescue package, it refused to offer another £50 billion of loan guarantees to its European partners. Problem is, with Europe tottering on the edge of financial Armageddon, any non-compliance by Britain only heightens tensions with Europe.

Consider, for example, the comment last week by Jean-Pierre Jouyet, current chairman of France’s financial services authority, in response to Britain’s refusal to get on board the EU’s rescue package for the eurozone. “The English are very certainly going to be targeted given the political difficulties they have,” he warned. On May 10, French bank bnp Paribas warned its clients that Britain would very soon have its “Greek moment,” which would inevitably cause Britain to lose its high credit rating, in turn precipitating a run on the pound. “Help yourself and heaven will help you,” Jouyet told Britain acidly. “If you don’t want to show solidarity to the eurozone, then let’s see what happens to the United Kingdom.”

The warning from France was bitter and clear: A financial crisis in Britain is imminent, and when it hits, Britain should not count on Europe for assistance!

On Tuesday, the assault on Britain continued when EU finance ministers meeting in Brussels agreed to introduce tougher regulation on the hedge fund industry. With an estimated 80 percent of Europe’s hedge funds based in London, Europe’s plans to regulate hedge funds threatens, as London Mayor Boris Johnson has previously warned, to “strangle” London as a financial center. German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble’s reaction to the decision reveals just how much—or how little—Germany empathizes with Britain’s plight on this issue. “I think that Britain will understand,” he stated nonchalantly. “That’s how it is in Europe. We are a union, and there are decisions that go against individual countries, but that can happen to any one country.” Really, Mr. Schäuble?

How many decisions of this magnitude have gone against the German government recently?

Evans-Pritchard stated that “the moment of definition is fast arriving for Britain” (op. cit). As this crisis unfolds, and as German-inspired European imperialism takes hold of Europe’s finances and politics, it “will put Britain and the eurozone on such separate courses that it will amount to separation in all but name,” he wrote.

For those who understand Bible prophecy and read the Trumpet regularly, that is an electrifying observation. With Bible prophecy as his guide, and for year after year, decade upon decade, Herbert Armstrong explained that Britain would not remain a part of Europe. In fact, when Britain joined the European Community on Jan. 1, 1973, he warned that it would prove to be a “tragically historic date” for Britain—a date “fraught with ominous potentialities” (Plain Truth, March 1973).

Today, the “ominous potentialities” Mr. Armstrong warned about have become ominous realities!

In the time ahead expect Europe, especially Germany, to apply immense pressure on Britain and on the newly elected government of Conservative leader David Cameron. Britain will be pressured to fall in line with Berlin’s ongoing reconfiguration of Europe. More than likely, however, Britain will not slip happily into Germany’s posse of minion states. In fact, as the Trumpet has explained for years, expect Britain to either remove itself from the European Union, or to be actively cast out by Germany for not cooperating.

Either way, events that have unfolded in Europe in recent days mean that Britain’s exodus from Europe is imminent! •

The start of a new friendship?

After more than a year, US president Barack Obama has suddenly stepped back form his icy treatment of Israel and its prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu, debkafile's Washington sources report. In an effort to make amends, he sent his top advisers, including his chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, with a public apology (of a kind) to leading American rabbis.

Our sources add that under new White House guidelines, US Middle East envoy George Mitchell should not try and extract from Israel more concessions that it is willing to offer, when he leads the proximity talks with the Palestinians starting this week.

The Obama U-turn dashes Palestinian hopes of the US president holding his own solution ready to impose on Israel in the event of the talks foundering or winding down in September without progress.

Political and Jewish circles see the change as an attempt win back Jewish voter support for the Democrats, eroded over the downturn in US-Israel relations, for the forthcoming midterm elections.

debkafile's Washington sources stress that the context is a lot wider. The US president knows the time has come to count his assets in the face of the dramatic big power realignment in the Middle East and the diplomatic impasse over Iran's drive for a nuclear bomb.

After fourteen months in the White House, Barack Obama has suddenly discovered that he has no other strategic ally in the region to rely on except for Israel.

Netanyahu may be justified in crowing over his critics at home. His decision to stand up to the US president's cold shoulder, insults and pressure, has been vindicated, whereas defense minister Ehud Barak and opposition leader Tzipi Liivni have been confounded in their dire warnings that refusal to surrender in a big way to the Palestinians would gravely jeopardize US-Israel relations.

A senior source in Washington told debkafile Sunday, May 16, that the Israeli prime minister has chalked up an impressive achievement; he can expect warmth and friendship from the administration in the foreseeable future in place of the coolness hitherto.

This does not mean Obama has given up on his objective of a two-state solution of the conflict with the Palestinians, but the arm-twisting tactics have been set aside for now.

Obama's new look on Israel was manifested in the words of Rahm Emanuel, when he met a carefully selected group of 15 rabbis from across the United States Thursday, May 13 along with fellow White House officials, including Dennis Ross, senior presidential adviser on Iran and Dan Shapiro, head of Middle East desk at the National Security Council.

Emanuel was the most outspoken when he said the Obama administration had "screwed up the messaging" about his support for Israel over the past 14 months. He promised the White House would work to undo the damage, but said it would take "more than one month to make up for 14 months."

Whether or not the Netanyahu government will be satisfied with this crudely-worded White House "apology" -addressed to American Jewish rabbis rather than Jerusalem - remains to be seen. Much will depend on the actions the Obama administration takes to undo the damage to which it has now owned up.

Recap of Day Four - The Obama Columbia University Trial with Pastor Manning

Today was a very busy day, but I will make it as brief as possible. First, I want to say that I believe Pastor Manning and his witnesses are proving without a doubt that Obama did not ever attend Columbia University physically. Some of Pastor Manning's witnesses are members of his congregation, but they have been very credible with their testimony. It is their community and they know every nook and cranny of their neighborhood, unlike Obama.

Obama stated in his book "Dreams From My Father" (rumored to be written by Bill Ayers) that he briefly lived at 109th Street and Broadway in Spanish Harlem while he says he attended Columbia University. The only problem is that address in not located in Spanish Harlem and for someone to say that after living in the area and attending the University shows that they do not know the area. So, you figure that one out.

Remember that the purpose of this trial is to prove that Obama never attended Columbia University and that his degree that he obtained was allegedly bought, not earned. Columbia University refuses to comment on this issue or respond to questions. What are they so afraid of? Do you mean to tell me that these records are also sealed? Interesting...

Pastor Manning stated that he had spoken on the phone with both Dr. Keyes and Wayne Allyn Root about their possible assistance with this trial. Dr. Keyes stated that his lawyers advised him not to testify and pastor Manning understood completely. Wayne Allyn Root, was supposed to testify on Sunday, but there was a mix up and he did not. Mr. Root was willing to testify, but Pastor Manning felt that it was not necessary due to the testimony from Sunday by witnesses.

Plus, there was a massive smear campaign on the Internet by fellow Libertarians that were shouting the "bither" name at Root for even thinking about participating in the Columbia trial. Glenn Beck has many of the libertarians split on this issue and I am sure that Barry and Soros are very happy for Glenn's assistance in undermining the eligibility movement.



Fox New video



Pastor Manning then submitted into evidence a documentary done by Bill Hemmer of Fox News on Obama, prior to the election. The video stated that "over 400 students and faculty were questioned and not one of them knew of Obama or the fact that he even attended Columbia University".

1. The video also showed Obama's school records from Indonesia where it stated that his name was Barry Soetoro and that his religion was Islam. Obama's "Fight the Smears" website once stated that Obama never was a Muslim, but this school records proves that to be untrue.

2. The Fox News documentary stated Obama lived in 96th Street and 1st Ave in NYC, but that seems to contradict his book where he states that he lived in 109th street and Broadway.

3. Obama traveled to Pakistan when he was just 20 years old (more on this later)

4. Obama's roommate was an illegal alien (Pakistani) named Saddiqi.

Both testified that they checked the Columbia University archives and yearbooks dating from 1980-1985 and they could find no evidence or photos of any Barack Obama or Barry Soetoro. They also testified that they could not find any Phil Bonner either. Obama stated in his book that Bonner was a friend of his that attened Columbia University with him, after a transfer from Occidental college.

1. The professor that Obama named in his book also could not be found in the archives accorded to their testimony.

2. Nothing related to Obama's name could be found in the Political Science dept.

3. Teachers spoke of Obama in his elementary school, his High School, Occidental College and Harvard as well, but no professors have ever mentioned him from Columbia University.

4. Obama stated that he used to hide in the Butler Library, but the witness stated that Library is a major meeting place and it is always very crowded. There is no way to hide there without meeting someone. Yet, nobody ever saw Barry in the Butler Library.

5. There was also a theory that Obama attended the Latrice Mumumba school in Moscow during that time he claimed he was in Columbia, but this has never been proven. This school was created by the Russians to teach radical Marxism to students to help spread communism throughout the world.

Witness Al Landry - Investigative Reporter

1. Al Landry states that Passport office was broken into on March 21, 2008 and that the operation was amateur compared to the Wategate break in. This break in involved the passport records of Hillary Clinton, John McCain and Barack Obama. It was interesting how at first the report did not include Obama in the report of passports that were breached.

Landry believes that this break in was possibly done to cleanse Obama's passport records or possible evidence.

2. Lt. Harris found murdered (gun shot) on April 17th, 2008. Lt. Harris worked for the State Department and he was in charge of the Social Security numbers and passport information. Harris was supposedly cooperating with investigators about the break in. Landry suggests that Harris was "at the wrong place at the wrong time".

The Harris murder has never been solved.

3. Landry then states that it was interesting that Obama's mother Stanley Dunham Soetoro lived in Pakistan for 5 years in an exclusive Hotel called the Hilton International. Obama most likely set up his mother with a job working for the Asian Development Bank. Pastor Manning alleges that this Bank was a front for the CIA.

4. SHOCKING DETAIL - Landry states that he read the Public Service registry in Pakistan and on that registry it stated - "44th President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama and in parenthesis it said (Kenyan Born).

Manning stated that he wanted to submit this video as evidence due to it's claim that Obama handed in many resumes during the two year span after he claims that he graduated from Columbia University.


Pastor Manning then questions "Why is Columbia University so silent on this issue?" I am sure that we all know that answer.

Who really did win World War II?

Fifteen years ago I sat in the press gallery at the grand celebration of the 50th anniversary of VE Day in London, England, observing and reporting on the proceedings. The occasion was the Heads of State ceremony. In the vip area sat Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Jordan’s King Hussein (at the time the longest-reigning foreign monarch), the prince and princess of Wales and a whole panoply of heads of state from around the world. The occasion was full of pomp and pageantry quite fitting for a nation reflecting on its hard-won victory over tyranny in the cause of freedom and world peace.

Today, one could be forgiven for asking who really won that terrible war, and what it really achieved. For today, the British offer a sad reflection of the strength of leadership, pride in national power and the level of willing public sacrifice which, together with the support of their American brother nation, combined against the most terrible odds to lick the enemy 65 years ago.

This year on May 8 when the British people celebrated VE Day, they did so under a situation of a hung Parliament, truly a witness to the dearth of statesmanlike, Churchillian leadership evident in the ranks of elites in Britain today.

At the same time that the British were remembering their victory over Nazi tyranny, the same spirit that drove the Nazi imperialist dream was at work in the minds of those who were busy behind closed doors figuring out a plan that will accelerate the achievement of the dream that Hitler and Kaiser Wilhelm had both possessed: a European continent united under Berlin’s control. Their emergency closed-door session ended with the very bank that Hitler had used to effect massive transfers of Nazi wealth internationally—the Bank of International Settlements—once again being handed a similar power.

The reality is that the power that the nation of Germany has won either directly or via its dominance of the EU courtesy of the global financial crisis—which began in September 2008 with the subprime mortgage meltdown in America and recently consummated with the sovereign debt fiasco in Europe—is mind-blowing to say the least. And it’s all happened within barely 18 months!

Last Saturday’s financial blitzkrieg now places Germany in the position where it not only obviously dictates European Central Bank policy through its proxy, the EU (which it has done ever since creating the ecb), but clearly dominates, if not directs, the decision-making process in the world’s major global financial institutions.

In September 2008, Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy flew to Washington, demanded and got U.S. agreement to hold an emergency G-20 meeting. By virtue of its majority vote within the G-20, the Franco-German axis clearly demonstrated its dominance of global economic policy formulation at that and each subsequent G-20 summit. Since it was German elites who called the tune on the recent European bailout (notwithstanding Mrs. Merkel’s apparent procrastination and Mr. Sarkozy’s flag waving at the end of negotiations), it is obvious that Germany, through its EU proxy partners, now controls by majority EU vote the setting of global financial policy.

EU majority under German leadership of the G-20 is the main power behind the creation of the new global fiscal regulatory authority, the Financial Stability Board (fsb), chaired by ex-Vatican banker and now governor of the Italian Bank and board member of the ecb, Mario Draghi. The influence of Rome and Berlin in the creation of this enterprise will place a “Holy” Roman German imperialist stamp on its approach to global financial regulation as soon as the fsb is formally established.

Most recently, with the decision of European elites to place the ex-Nazi bank, the Bank of International Settlements (bis), in charge of all international transfers of funds associated with the sovereign debt bailout, a bank once again under German dominance, this virtually gives Europe’s most predominant nation a controlling power in each of the globe’s most influential and powerful financial institutions. It is a virtual takeover by powerful German Roman Catholic elites of the global financial system—over fiscal policy formulation, financial regulation, and international money transfers.

The ecb, the G-20, the fsb and the bis—all these institutions now dance to Germany’s tune!

Via its dominance of these four powerful institutions, and given the right leadership, Germany is now in a position at some time in the future to dictate, through its powerfully influential Roman Catholic EU elites, global economic and financial strategy, and, by association, international trade, in fulfillment of Revelation 13:16-17!

So who did really win the war for which Britain celebrated victory on May 8?

The United States has now won its last war! …. We have the power, but we are afraid to use it! Our high standard of living is starting downward. …

Europeans had relied on the United States for protection against Russia. They are fast losing confidence in that reliance. Soon they will unite politically and militarily in a gigantic United States of Europe—a resurrection of the once powerful “Holy Roman Empire.” And it will be a threat that could destroy the United States and Britain.

Already the once proud British Empire has crumbled. They were proud of their power—a proud people. They are no longer a major nation.

With unerring foresight, Herbert Armstrong penned those words 34 years ago! (co-worker letter, Feb. 27, 1976).

Now, with the agglomeration of power gained by Germany under the EU umbrella, the potential for the fulfillment of his prophecy concerning the rise to global dominance of a United States of Europe has become a potent reality!

Suddenly Germany is in the headlines. Germany is on the lips of the most astute commentators on the European sovereign debt crisis. The real thinkers such as reside at the Stratfor think tank, the best of the journalists who closely observe the European scene such as the Telegraph’s Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, the American commentators most attuned to the EU agenda such as Dick Morris, all are voicing concern at the powerful clout that has recently been acquired by European central bankers under German dominance.
