“Daley: Send gun industry lawsuit to World Court

Six years after the state Supreme Court dismissed his $433 million lawsuit against the gun industry, Mayor Daley today called for a change of venue — to the World Court normally reserved for disputes between nations and crimes against humanity.

Wrapping up the sixth annual Richard J. Daley Global Cities Forum, Daley convinced more than a dozen of his counterparts from around the world to approve a resolution urging "redress against the gun industry through the courts of the world" in The Hague.

"This is coming from international mayors. They're saying, 'We’re tired of your guns, America. ... We don't want those anymore because guns kill and injure people,' " Daley told a news conference at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

"If we ship over poison to a country, don’t you think we should be responsible for it? That’s what they’re saying: 'Be responsible for what you manufacture and sell in my country.' ... You have to think outside the box. You have to be [aggressive] about how you protect your people."

Mexico City Mayor Marcelo Ebrard Casauban noted that the Mexican government is waging a brutal war against drug cartels that get “85 percent” of their weapons from the United States.

"The U.S. government says, 'We cannot do a lot of things to stop this,'" Casauban said. "We should take actions with legal effects in order to stop this trade between the United States and Mexico."

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter acknowledged that using the World Court is a long-shot. But, he said “you never know until you try” and it’s worth a try to counter the political muscle and money of the National Rifle Association.

"We have to do different things. The political establishment in many state capitals — and certainly in Washington — [is] so deathly afraid of the NRA that people cannot make the right decision for their own constituents," Nutter said.

He added, "People are being killed every day in the United States of America with illegal weapons. I love the 2nd Ammendment. [But], I have a 1st Ammendment right not to be shot."

Gun violence also dominated a panel discussion earlier in the day at the Global Cities Forum.

It happened when Daley argued that Chicagoans have to "open our hearts and our pocketbooks" to save another generation from being lost.

"We don't say, 'Come to us.' Government has to go to them. They’re isolated. Maybe they have a substance abuse problem. The grandmother is 70 years old and raising grandchildren. ... We have to intervene in a different way we never have before. We have to have more homes for children, such as Boys and Girls Town to help them at earlier ages,” the mayor said.

"This idea of losing a 14-year-old to gangs and drugs in America is unacceptable. It is not a criteria we should ever live with."

Daley’s 1998 lawsuit accused the gun industry of creating a public nuisance by using irresponsible suburban gun shops to flood the city with guns that traffickers supplied to criminals.

The city and the county sought reimbursement for policing, emergency services and prosecutions tied to gun violence using nuisance laws normally reserved for polluters. In 2004, the state Supreme Court refused to create, what it called "an entirely new species of public nuisance liability."’

He and Bloomberg are both enemies of the Constitution in my opinion.

Israel's Barak-8 naval shield

Israel has turned down several Turkish requests for advanced military hardware, according to Israeli and Western intelligence sources. Sources in Ankara say that the impact from Prime minister Tayyep Recep Erdogan's alignment with Syria and Iran and poisonous attacks on Israel is beginning to cut into the Turkish army's operational capabilities. In recent weeks, Turkish naval chiefs tried to find out in particular if Israel would be willing to sell the Barak 8 missile interceptor, whose radar provides 360-degree coverage against incoming missiles or air attack, and which was developed in partnership with India.
Security sources told debkafile that it was decided in Jerusalem not to sell, in case Erdogan decided to allow Iranian military intelligence experts to study the Barak-8 and analyze its technology. This interceptor is a key defensive component for the Israeli missile and warships patrolling the Persian Gulf seas opposite Iran, the Red Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean opposite Syrian and Lebanese shores.
As debkafile revealed exclusively last November, the Turkish Prime minister and Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad signed a secret military pact on Oct. 28, 2009, requiring Turkey's military intelligence, its air force and navy to help Iran repel a possible Israeli attack on its nuclear facilities. It included a provision for the sharing of any data and technology on Israeli weapons systems in Turkish possession, which the IDF might use for a potential strike. Click here for article.
Since that pact was signed, Israel has cut off all advanced weapons supplies to the Turkish armed forces. India too is flatly against letting Turkey getting hold of the Barak 8, in whose development the Indian Navy has invested $330 million since the program began in 2004. New Delhi fears that from Turkey, the technology might leak to Tehran, which India fears is capable of trading its secrets with Islamabad for Pakistani nuclear and missile technology.
Six months ago, India and Israel signed a $1.1 billion contract for the purchase of the interceptor and its installation on most of its navy's warships. The system, complete with launchers, radar and installation sells for $24 million.
The Barak 8 provides warships with all-weather, day-and-night, 360 degrees coverage and is capable of intercepting incoming missiles when they are no more than 500 meters away from target.

SPRING HILL, Tenn. -- Police departments throughout middle Tennessee said they are faced with delays in ammunition shipments. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, along with gun owners

who are stocking up on supplies, are causing the deficiency, said ammo producers.

"The orders are about six to nine months behind schedule," said Spring Hill Police Chief John Smith.Smith said he is purchasing bullets six to eight months ahead of schedule to keep his supply of 60,000 rounds of ammo in stock."We definitely try to stay ahead of the ball game," said Smith.Spring Hill officers carry Glock 22s, which fire .40-caliber bullets. The ammo is used for training, but with bullets in short supply, police agencies are combining training to save money and bullets."If another agency is falling short in supplies and materials and training, then the other agencies around usually jump right in and try to help out," said Smith.The military gets first priority for ammunition, followed by police agencies. The public is third on that priority list. Ammo manufacturers cannot keep up with the current demand.With two wars being fought, the military is using a lot of different sizes of caliber bullets, but it's the public who may be making matters worse.Many gun owners are hoarding ammo, worried that the supply may not be available."The current economic situation has made people a little more nervous in regards to building up their personal supplies. So, I think that's another reason why you're seeing such a shortage now," said Smith.Police and sheriffs' agencies throughout middle Tennessee confirm that ammo shipments are delayed by at least six months.Metro police said they secured a supply of ammo early to avoid any shortage problems.Some police agencies said they did not see this shortage coming. Problem with Hornady Critical Defense

I bought 4 boxes of the new Hornady Critical Defense ammo in 9mm. Yesterday I got a chance to try it out and what a disappointment!! One out of every 3 rounds was a misfire. The hammer left pronounced indentations on the primers but the rounds were duds. Some I even put back in and tried again with the same result. Now I had two hammer indentations on the primer but no fire!

Today I went to the range and with the same gun (Kahr CW9) I fired my normal carry round, Speer Gold Dot 124 gr. with not a single misfire. Then I ran 50 rounds of Federal American Eagle hard ball with again, not a single misfire.
I'm going to contact Hornady for a refund but needless to say, I would never carry their Critical Defense round.

The Polish media reports that a man who took video footage of the burning wreckage of President Lech Kaczynski's Polish Air Force plane near Smolensk has been brutally murdered.

The videographer uploaded his material, which allegedly contained sounds of gunshots at the crash site, to the Internet. Five days later, on April 15, "Andrij" was stabbed near Kiev, Ukraine, or Kijow, in the Polish language. In critical condition, he was taken to a Kiev hospital where his murderers pursued him, ripped out his life support system, and stabbed "Andrij"until dead. A translation of the Polish story follows:

"Author of the video seen by everyone by now has been stabbed near Kijow on 4.15and transported in critical condition to the hospital in Kijow. On 4.16three unidentified individuals unplugged him from life support system and stabbed him 3 more times. Andrij was pronounced dead that afternoon. Russian government claims it was a coincidence.

Looks like Vladimir Putin didn't want any evidence of Kremlin complicity in the "decapitation" of Poland's anti-communist government.

US defense secretary Robert Gates said Tuesday night, April 27: "Hizballah has far more rockets and missile than most governments in the world." He and Israeli defense minister Ehud Barak were talking to reporters after their talks in the Pentagon. Military sources did not see his as high commendation for Barak's achievements as defense minister. All he had to contribute on this occasion was: "We do not intend to provoke any kind of major collision in Lebanon or with Syria, but are watching closely these developments."
Gates went on to accuse Syria and Iran of "providing Hizballah with rockets of ever-increasing capability," adding, "This is obviously destabilizing for the whole region and we're watching it very carefully.

Both defense chiefs seemed to think that careful watching would somehow erase the hostile buildup of deadly hardware. In fact, Barak's comment told Iran, Syria and Hizballah they had nothing to fear from continuing their "carefully watched" buildup, even though Syria took it a step forward this month. As debkafile's military sources reported last week, Syrian instructors have trained two Hizballah brigades in the use of mobile Scud missiles which carry one-ton warheads. It does not matter if those missiles are moved physically across the border to Lebanon, because those brigades can operate them against Israel at short notice from either side of the border.
Our Washington sources report that Syrian president Bashar Assad, under heavy pressure from Washington to keep the Scuds out of Hizballah's hands, explained to the Obama administration through diplomatic channels that as long as they were kept inside Syria, the Scuds must be seen as a defensive and deterrent weapon against a possible Israeli attack on Lebanon and Syria. He thus placed on Israel the onus for any future outbreak of hostilities.

Gates' accusation of Iran and Syria Tuesday was the administration's way of telling Damascus that it does not buy that message.
Unlike the United States, Israel has a ringside seat for watching the rockets and missiles pile up just across its 70-kilometer long border with Lebanon. Gates' comment - and even more Barak's assurance - gave Syria and the Hizballah space to carry on building a mighty arsenal, which is aimed at only one country, Israel.
Barak as defense minister, prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Israel's security chiefs need to explain how Hizballah was allowed in the four years since the 2006 war to pile up tens of thousands of rockets and missiles, which in volume and sophistication have already overtaken the weaponry that battered northern Israel then and which have extended their reach to all parts of Israel.
"Careful watch" - without corresponding action to interrupt the massive flow of weapons shipments constantly smuggled in from Syria to Hizballah - is a repeat of the misplaced self-restraint which invited the Hizballah to launch the last Lebanon conflict in the summer of 2006. Dragging Israeli and its homeland into war in the summer of 2010 would serve the political and military interests of Iran, Syria and Hizballah well. It would generate a Middle East crisis overwhelming enough to focus international efforts on calming the situation, so distracting the world's attention Iran's arrival at the critical stages of its nuclear bomb program and its drive for sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

Israel in a Really Tight Spot

Israeli Military analysts believe Israel will be in a war not only with Hamas, but also Hezbollah some time this summer. If it were only these two, and Israel wanted to get really tough, it would be over very quickly. I wish that was the whole story, but it isn't. Syria has now moved scud missiles into Lebanon for Hezbollah, giving them a very long-range capability; in fact all of Israel is now in their sights. The question now to ask? Is Syria planning on joining in this time? Lebanon has already made Hezbollah part of the Lebanese government thereby opening up the possibility of the whole country now being in danger from the IDF and IAF. Assad of Syria has made the statement several times over the past few months that he is ready for war with Israel - and that is the only thing Israel understands. But in fact he has that a little backwards. Israel wants more than anything to have peace, but it is the Arabs who only believe in conquest by military power. It has become obvious to me over the years that they don't want peace by way of a negotiated agreement. They want to be able to say they destroyed Israel and killed the Jews.

I feel like I am preaching to the choir because most reading this know there is no such thing as peace with the Islamic terrorists. They have programmed and indoctrinated their kids to believe to die killing Jews gives Allah glory and praise. Many have taken polls in Gaza asking 6^th graders and younger what they wanted to be when they grew up. The large majority said they want to be suicide bombers and kill Jews.

The next war will not be like any other Israel has experienced, because the weapons now in the hands of Hamas and Hezbollah, Syria and Iran will present a totally different scenario.

I believe we will see Isa. 17:1 come to pass if Syria gets involved, and it looks like they have now talked themselves into taking no other option other than to join the fight. The Government controlled daily newspapers, continue to spread incitement and hatred towards Israel.

With Obama as President we know Israel cannot count on any help from the US, or at least not in time to make a difference. In Europe, anti-Semitism in 2009 more than doubled over the previous year. In some places there has been over a 500% rise in violent attacks upon Jews, and Jewish Institutions such as synagogues and Jewish businesses. Jews are beginning to pour out of Europe now and it is still possible to simply fly to Israel on commercial airlines. However, we are hearing Hezbollah making speeches saying that they can now strike Tel Aviv airport.

With armaments flying into Beirut from Iran, North Korea, China and Russia, they are threatening that should Israel attack, they will retaliate against Tel Aviv. In other words, if Israel strikes Beirut airport, they will hit the airport in Tel Aviv. This has Israel in a really tight spot. If Israel sits here waiting, and doesn't try to stop not only Iran, but the arms build-up in Lebanon and Gaza, Israel will only make it more uncertain of achieving an easy victory. Or any victory! One thing is certain, and this also has been stated by more than one Israeli General; many Israeli civilians will die in this next war.

If you are anything like this Messenger you will know who wins in the end. God will gather again the second time His people to the land God promised Abraham, Isaac and Jacob by an everlasting covenant (Isa. 11:11-12)

We have a very busy schedule starting the end of this month. There is so much to be done, and so many places to visit and speak with those who need to know certain things. My greatest desire is to have a much larger boat to save many more. Our boat in Turkey may have to be moved soon, if the relationship with Israel deteriorates further in the next few months. We ask for your prayers and support for so much is needed. Our boat here in Israel went back into the water today and it is in very good condition. The one in Turkey should go in the water after repairs, some time this coming week. It also is in very good condition. And as I said in earlier reports, tourism is down in Turkey and the economy is very depressed. Now is the time to find the best deal for a 35 to a 40-meter Gullet in good condition capable of carrying over a 100 at a time to Israel. Pray with me for this need to be met.

No one knows how much more time we have to prepare. I thank God for every day He gives us, knowing that many are on the verge of making a commitment to bless Israel.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, for our son Joel and all the IDF soldiers, pray for this Ministry and your part in it.

Has anyone read or experianced problems with Hornady CD Ammo??

I went to the range today to test some ammo in my pocket 9mm(no it's not a S&W)

Anyway it was flawless with Gold Dots and Rem Gold Sabers, and my handloads with Wolf primers which are a bit on the hard side.

I then tried some Hornady Critical Defense 9mm 115 gr FTX.

Out of a box of 25, I had at least 5 misfires(failed to go bang)
I had no problem with their .380 ammo when I tried it when it first came out before the great 380 shortage of 2009.

I looked at the primers and they seem to have a fine primer strike and look the same as the ones that did fire.

I saved 5 rounds with primer indents and plan on writing Hornady to see whats up.

Just wondered if anyone else has heard or experienced this??

Thanks for any input.

Russia's Club-K Freight Container cruise missile

This relatively cheap, extra-smart, easy-to-use Club-K Container Missile System, which Moscow has put on the open market, allows cruise missiles concealed in freight containers to be launched from a prepositioned or moving land or sea platform. It is virtually undetectable by radar until activated. No wonder, Iran and Venezuela were keenly interested when the Club-K was put on the market at the Defense Services Asia exhibition in Malaysia this week for $15 million.

Western military experts are calling it a "real maritime fear for anyone with a waterfront." The container-cum-missiles, carried by a ship, fishing vessel or truck can approach a targeted coast, highway or international railway and strike behind the target's missile defenses without alerting radar monitors or even surveillance drones and satellites.

In Iranian hands, it would make the targeting of its nuclear facilities very difficult. Able to wipe out an aircraft carrier up to 400 kilometers away, the system's manufacturer, Novator, is directing its marketing tactics at anyone under threat of military action from the United States. One expert accused the Russians of proliferating ballistic missiles on an unheard-of scale.

At the Malaysian exhibition, the marketing film showed the Club-K being activated from an ordinary truck. (See picture.) The truck pulls up, whereupon the container roof lifts up to reveal four 3?-54?E, 3?-54?E1 and 3?-14?E cruise missiles ready to fire. The operator then pushes a button and the missiles, which have a range of 350 km, are launched without further preparation.

debkafile's military sources warn that the sale of Club-K cruise missile systems to Iran or Syria and their transfer to Hizballah would give them an edge substantial enough to be a game-changer into the Middle East balance of strength. They are capable of surreptitiously approaching Israeli, Iraqi and any other coastlines in the region, and send missiles flying against an American, Arab or Israeli strategic or military target before their targets know they are under attack.

The missile specialist Novator, which maintains a manufacturing plant in Yekaterinburg in the Ural Mountains, produces an array of missiles against air, sea and land targets, including cruise missiles launched from submarines, as well as the advanced S-300 missile interceptor, which Russia contracted to sell Iran but has so far not delivered.
