Looking Back

I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY MAIN BLOGGER AND HAVE LOST SOME OF MY ARCHIVES FOR NOW. I AM GOING TO TRY AND HAVE THEM RESTORED BY THE BLOGGER PEOPLE, THIS MAY TAKE A FEW DAYS. VERY SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE.

WELCOME TO THE NO BS ZONE OF TEDDY JACOBSON

I looked around today and started to realize all the things that have become so very necessary for our daily life and survival. I am going to take you on a journey back into time, where I come from and how I lived. I lived in the best of times but at the time had no clue how really good we all had it. Most of you younger people will have no clue what I am going to say, it will be very hard for you to understand what I am about to tell you.

During WW II many things were rationed and we had very little money, there were no frills of daily life that you have now taken for granted. No one had cars and besides if you had a car you could not buy a tire for it as it all went to the war effort. If I wanted some bubble gum, it was not available as the candy store was usually out of everything. You were told to save all metal cans for the war effort and they came around to collect these cans regularly. We had ration books that allowed us so much of some items per month and that was it.

Trolley cars were still running in Brooklyn. We still had the Brooklyn Dodgers, but that was when ball players played for the love of the game and no one made big money. I have been in Ebbets field many times and I saw all the famous ball players like Carl Furillo and Duke Snyder and Roy Campanella and I saw Peewee Reese and all of them, including the Yankees and the Giants. This was a world that you can only imagine. As I got a little older say about 8 to 10 years old, I still had nothing but the basics. My father bought me a Remington 550 - 22 caliber rifle. It always jammed.

In my daily life I had no TV, I had no air conditioning. We did not have a car until 1953. The highlight of my life was listening to the SHADOW on the radio. I was living in a prime time when people basically cared and all the neighbors would sit on the sidewalk every nite for hours to chew the fat about the very few things we had, it was all we needed. Not everyone had a phone and to use a public phone it was about 3 blocks away and it cost 5 cents. There were no cell phones of any kind, there were hardly any conveniences but we were not only happier but we had faith in our country and its leaders.

I had no toys to play with unless I made them or some one would make me something like a Toy gun. We had no fast food chain restaurants, there were no McDonalds or Burger King or whatever. We never had any money to go to a fancy restaurant, that was out of the question. I would look in my home in Brooklyn and there was a fan and some furniture but no electronics, except for an old radio that we all used. I shared a room with my brother and we had enough to get by, but nothing beyond that...

If I wanted to buy a pocket knife I could get what I thought was a good knife for 2 dollars and I had no sharpening stone. In order to sharpen my knife I had to sit on the curb and use the concrete curb as my sharpening stone. I did not know people had special stones to sharpen knives, it was beyond my world of reality. I never even had a bicycle until I was older and I walked everywhere, I remember a very big snow storm in I think 1947 that just shut down the city and we had drifts of snow all over that totally covered the cars.

The Police drove 2 tone colored Fords that was just a sedan and they had no great communications between them and the station. The cops that walked a beat alone had call in boxes every few blocks in case they needed help or wanted to speak with someone at the station. All the Police carried 38 special revolvers and they were very well respected. No one would ever talk back to the Police in those days, if they asked where you were going or whatever, you always answered them respectfully like I did. Do not get me wrong payoffs were made every where, but this was not a part of my world.

I was just a kid that spent most of his life on the streets of Brooklyn, thats all I ever knew. Money ?? I never had any. If I needed a drink I could go into a candy store and buy a 2 cent plain (cost 2 cents), all that meant was it was carbonated water, like seltzer. If I had a nickle which was 5 cents I could get a small glass of coke. I used to see people that had cars and I could never figure how anyone could get enough money to buy one. I spent a great deal of time painting pictures on plywood as I had no paper made for the paint I had.

Thankfully my father kept buying me rifles as long as he kept working and we got buy. I remember getting a Marlin lever action in 32 special caliber. I think that was the caliber and then I got a Winchester 88 in 308 caliber. I do remember those rifles so very well but I seldom got a chance to shoot the large calibers. I used to take my Remington 550 to a range in New York City and I carried it with plenty of ammunition in my bag and the rifle was in a zippered case. I had to take many trains each way in order to get to this Manhattan School of Firearms Range. No one ever stopped me or asked me where I was going or what I had. I was about 14 or 15 years old.

I miss those days of innocense and simplicity that none of us have today. I used to see many things happen on the streets but you learned to mind your own business and life goes on. I can not believe how much I had to walk in those days, it was nothing to walk miles every day, now I can hardly walk anywhere.

I will continue this tomorrow. Continued 5-24-06

As I had time to think about this commentary, I have a laser memory in some areas and I can even remember our first phone number in Brooklyn, all our phone numbers started with a name and we used the first 2 letters, such as mine was Gedney = which we used GE plus the number.

Thinking back I saw all the famous Yankees play and it was a very long trip for me to go to the Polo Grounds where the Giants played and then to Yankee Stadium where the Yankee team was based. My favorite places to go when I was very young was to Sheepshead Bay and Coney Island where I always went to Nathans which was a famoust eatery for everyone. A Nathans famous hot dog was about 15 cents. I used to take many buses to get somewhere local and if I went fishing and caught a lot of fish I carried it all home in a burlap sack.

Many bus drivers would not pick me up when they saw my burlap sack as they knew it would give their bus an aroma that they could not deal with. When they did pick me up they told me to sit in the very back of the bus. I never minded sitting in the rear with 40 or 50 fish in my sack. After I got off the bus I had at least 5 to 7 blocks to walk to get home. I remember one time I caught about 196 small tinker Mackrel. Those were the days of innocence and good times. We had limited money but times were better and people had more faith in this countries future.

In the 50's in Brooklyn it was full of street gangs that were segregated by neighborhoods and one had to be careful where you went and what you said or you could get a knife in your back. I went to junior high school in another area where it was controlled by a gang that was un controllable. They would shake you down or at least try to for your lunch money on the school grounds or in the stair wells. Most kids carried 35 cents for lunch and everyone had their money hidden somewhere. I had more street fights than I have hair on my head.

Everyone made guns by hand in these gangs, they were called Zip guns and fired a 22 caliber bullet. It was easy to make if you had some hand skils and understood the basics. These were very crude guns and you could make them using a tube from a car antenna. This was a period of the Korean war and people basically had good lives but if you did not ever learn to be street wise you were in trouble. I miss those early days more than I can ever tell you, the street people were always out hanging around and it remained a simple life. I always had rifles but I never owned a handgun until I was 18 years old.

Even at this time being in Brooklyn in the summer it was very hot and NO ONE had any air conditioning, so many people slept on the fire escapes and some even went on the roofs of apt. buildings trying to get a breeze in order to cool off. I guess looking back its the ghetto life where everyone is out every nite on the sidewalk having conversations that I think about most. I only carried a small pocket knife and I never had the money to buy a quality knife and I guess thats why I do not think twice about spend 200 or 300 dollars for a good knife today.

These street gangs used knives and clubs and a favorite weapon was to steal the handle off of peoples metal garbage cans to be used as knuckles in a street fight. As you walked around during a garbage day pick up you would see all these garbage cans with no handles every where. They would just use electrical tape on the garbage can handle, to protect ones hand as these handles came in various shapes and sizes. A hammer was used to rip the handles off these garbage cans, they used the claw part of the hammer.

There was crime like every where else but the "CONNECTED" people were not going to rob you, they were busy running numbers and gambling and chasing women. I saw one well named Mafia man beat a woman senseless right in broad daylight and no one would ever come to help her. Even the Police car would just drive by and say nothing, some of these people were bent on revenge if you did not mind your own business. I used to speak with these organized crime guys all the time in passing but it was not worth getting involved.

Their women felt important to be seen with these guys and in the end they all lost. Most of the people I grew up with are dead. Very few survived into a long life as no one understood eating habbits and living with out the stress the streets require. It all caught up with everyone and after high school many people just left Brooklyn. I was one of them but I want to tell you about the high schools I went to before I conclude this commentary so I will continue this later.

My first year in High School I decided to go to School of Industrial Art in NYC, I had to take 4 trains each way. The school was for people that wanted to learn drafting and art, it was a mixed bag of screwballs that came from everywhere. There were fights everyday about something and the goils were always caught in the stairwells doing what they should not. I was sick of it after 1 year and decided instead of continually fighting to survive I would switch over to my regular district High School where Barbara Streisand and Neil Diamond went.

This school was called Erasmus Hall High School and there were so many kids that it was divided up into a morning and an afternoon session. I always had the morning session and there were always fights and trouble in the school of thousands of kids from Brooklyn. I had no choice but to work 3 years in a butcher shop for $12.00 per week and my grandfather laid the law down to me so I had to attend a Hebrew school after my regular school which I went to for 7 years. I had to comply as my options were none, zero, ziltch, nada, it had to be done. I have no regrets now. There was a woman I remember and she was my good friend but shes dead now.

I never ran into Streisand and I did not know Neil Diamond. I would not know them if I passed them in the halls. You can go to www.erasmushall.org
you can look all this up on their famous website and see all the famous alumni that attended that school. Many famous and well known people came from Brooklyn which had about 2 million people. I think Woody Allen went to Lincoln High School in Brooklyn. There were a lot of liberal schmucks that came out of Brooklyn, there must have been something in the water to damage their mind.

Those are the days that I can remember and always regretted leaving the Brooklyn of the 50's but it does not exist anymore. If you really want me to go into more detail, you can email me and let me know. I have endless stories about the 18 years I lived in Brooklyn, some things I can not write in a blogger but I can give you an idea of how life really was and how cheap life was on the streets.

I have even changed formats thinking that would help but it did not. I lost my original hit counter and replaced it with the one up here now but I am not sure that I inserted the HTML code in the right place.

I will continue to use this blogger www.actionsbyt.blogspot.com

I will post news articles on www.commentsbyt.blogspot.com

We will try this for now and see how it works and if you have any suggestions please email me at tjacobson@houston.rr.com

BHP Accuracy by Stephen Camp

Browning Hi Power Accuracy

The term "accuracy" doesn't necessarily mean the same thing to all of us. To a competition match bullseye shooter, it means having the most intrinsically accurate pistol he can have. Malfunctions are a secondary issue in most cases, but he must have a competition pistol capable of putting one bullet hole right on top of another. To the IDPA shooter, the gun must be reliable and capable of dropping hits within a more generous scoring area that the bullseye target. If both of these fellows have pistols capable of meeting their requirements, they have accurate pistols in their respective frames of reference.

So where does the Browning Hi Power fit in with regard to accuracy?

First, you have to remember that the Hi Power was originally designed to be a military service pistol. Emphasis was strong on reliability and accuracy parameters would not be so strict as those for our bullseye shooter previously mentioned. The gun was intended to fire under adverse conditions more than to provide the tightest possible groups. The Hi Power generally will not match the tight groups of pistols designed for competition target shooting including accurized versions of other service pistols such as the Gold Cup or 1911 pistols custom built to provide extreme mechanical accuracy.

Does that mean that it is inaccurate? The answer depends upon your definition and requirements. It's been my experience with many Hi Powers that almost all of them will drop most brands of ammunition into groups under 3" at 25 yards. Some will do better and most will do surprisingly better with a specific load that the gun "likes." I'm happy with loads that do in the 2 to 2.5" range at that distance as I cannot achieve such groups except from a rest and I'm not involved in Camp Perry competition. If the pistol is capable of dropping its shots onto a tennis ball size target at twenty-five yards (assuming I'm doing my part), the Hi Power is accurate, as least to me.

One of the endearing traits of the Hi Power is that it is usually consistent in accuracy, one gun to another. I've rarely seen one that wouldn't group in the ranges mentioned and the best-grouping is usually not that much better than the worst-grouping Hi Powers I've owned and/or shot. This speaks highly to FN's manufacturing. (I do wish they'd place such an emphasis on trigger pulls!)

Every now and again, I hear from a shooter having trouble with his Hi Power throwing a wild shot without warning that is not the shooter's fault. Assuming that the ammunition is not at fault, it seems that pistols afflicted with this malady are suffering from the barrel not locking up the same way each time a shot is fired. Finding the specific location of improper fitting, be it in the slide or the barrel can be a tedious problem. If you are suffering from such a problem and happen to have a spare barrel, you might try a switch and see if this does it. The problem here is that such swaps can result in a different POI for the same POA. If this works, great, but if not I'd buy an oversize Bar-Sto match Hi Power barrel and have it fitted to the pistol. On two occasions, this has been the cure and is generally not much more expensive than having a qualified gunsmith weld the original barrel and refit it to the pistol.

At this point, it might be appropriate to compare Hi Power accuracy with a fitted Bar-Sto vs. a stock barrel. It has been my experience that perhaps a 10 to 20% tightening of groups with jacketed bullets will be seen, although the favorite load for the factory barrel might very well be different than that preferred by the match barrel. You will see a significant increase in grouping ability with the Bar-Sto if using either cast or plated bullets. I believe that this is due to the difference in pitch between the two barrels. The factory FN barrel has a 1:10 twist while the Bar-Sto is 1:16. It appears that the cast and plated bullets "like" the slower twist. In general, I've noticed about a 40 to 60 ft/sec decrease in velocity from the 1:10 to the 1:16 with most loads. I assume this is due to more complete combustion of the powder in trying to drive the bullet out the faster twist barrel without reaching the point where too much is used and velocity suffers. This has proven true with many loads I've tested, but not all and it can be different from barrel to barrel. The main thing is that if you're shooting a maximum load that's fine in the slower twist Bar-Sto, it might be too hot in the faster twist factory barrel. This is only a potential problem with loads pushing the maximum ballistic envelope for the cartridge and I'm aware of no factory loads, standard, +P, or +P+ in which it can be risky or dangerous.

For most of us, the Browning Hi Power is more accurate than we can actually make use of as it comes from the manufacturer, but it is still essentially a service pistol and should not be expected to group with a target gun. Contrary to some statements I've seen, I've observed no difference overall between Hi Powers having fixed sights vs. those with adjustables with regard to inherent mechanical accuracy. Do not buy an adjustable sighted Hi Power under the false assumption that the pistol is fitted better or held to higher standards in terms of grouping ability. The basic gun is the same with only different sights.

While I believe that the standard Hi Power is accurate enough to meet the vast majority of shooters' perceived needs, the trigger pull can often inhibit their ability to utilize the gun's accuracy. Unfortunately, poor trigger pulls are not uncommon on the Hi Power pistol. The statement that " a trigger pull need not necessarily be light, but should be crisp" is true, but they do need to be lighter than those common on many Hi Powers. Fortunately, this can be addressed with a number of cures from removing the magazine disconnect to having a gunsmith do a trigger job. The latter will mean more money spent, but for many of us, the result is worth it.

While the Browning Hi Power remains a service pistol with service accuracy, I believe that it falls in the better range of this rating and with but a little help can be a very accurate pistol for all but the very best shots or those in formal competition.

With Hurricane season approaching and with our open border problems there are limitations on waiting and putting off what must be done in order to prepare for the very difficult days ahead. For those that do not believe its not possible for us to take another major hit, I think they are insane. Regardless of what the politicians decide to do with our southern and northern border its a little to late as they have had years to take care of this problem. The only reason the panic is on is because of the coming November elections where the other party may take control of the House and Senate.

There is no reason other than a personal agenda for GLOBALIZATION to really understand that the people that are running the world have their own agenda. I have my own opinion but its just my personal opinion and means nothing. I believe everything revolves around the destiny of JERUSALEM. The more this country pressure Israel to relinquish part of Jerusalem, the more chaos we are in for. I truly believe this scenario and a little time will see if I am right. Its all in the scriptures.

But in the meantime you best get ready with you handguns and rifles and shotguns for survival. If you do not own a gun you will become a victim. I believe we are running out of time because our borders North and South have been opened for so long that the weapons to be used against us are already here. I do not like this situation any more than you do but I am facing reality which may include my demise as I live about 60 miles from the major refineries. Its G-D's will what is coming and I can deal with any eventuality.

There is not a doubt in my mind and this is only my personal opinion that the sale of guns and ammo will be shut down immediately after we are hit by Muslim terrorists. If you continue to wait you will be a lost soul when it comes to getting the supplies you will need. What will money or credit cards be worth. When I spent 20 years in South Florida, upon the arrival of a hurricane it was just a matter of a few hours and all the shelves were bare in PUBLIX which is a major supermarket in the Miami area. When I tell you bare, I mean everything was gone, there was nothing to buy. Gun stores were shut down and if you did not already have your ammo it was too late.

Have you tried to buy 7.62 x 39 ammo lately. Its a hunt now as everyone that owns an AK 47 is buying it up as the price is right. It runs under three dollars a box of about 20 cartridges, that is if you can find it. You will start to see other calibers drying up. I think the best caliber to stock up with is 9mm luger. he average person can not just buy and buy and buy, if they are like me they buy a little every week or every two weeks.

What are we faced with if these illegal aliens start shooting and rioting. We can not depend on the authorities to have the man power to protect us. I recentely bought some G.I. can openers for an emergency along with a FOX 40 whistle that has three chambers and no "PEA"... They say this whistle has a decibel rating of about 110. I have not tried this whistle yet but it comes in various colors and can be purchased at www.shomer-tec.com

MUST SEE MOSS VS. BRILEY

................................................................

I decided to write this type of commentary because of our changing times and you will need all of the solid real information you can digest rather than listen to the BS that you will find everywhere. No one ever said life was going to be easy and only the strong will survive the hard times we are in for. It is not the physically strong that I am referring to, sure it will help a great deal to be physically strong but if you are weak mentally and do not have the "MINDSET to stay alive in a very war for our survival you do not stand a chance.

I once had a conversation in a martial arts school with a number of people and most were of the concept that any kid can be trained to be ruthless. I disagreed completely, they did not believe me and I used to teach young kids how to fight under controlled conditions. Some of these kids became very good in a controlled envirement but if you turn one of these kids loose in a very rough area and he was all alone, he or she would panic and any good street fighter could whip him in minutes. I know this for a fact as I have seen it time and time again.

I can no longer practice my hand fighting as my health declines. I still think about this all the time because this is going to effect all of us in due time. How many of the people out there understand what I am talking about, the fact that a person owns a gun or shoots at a range regularly and goes to defense classes DOES NOT MAKE YOU READY TO LAY YOUR LIFE ON THE LINE IN AN ACTUAL FACE TO FACE GUNFIGHT. Paper targets DO NOT SHOOT BACK. Bullets go both ways.

The enemy we face are these Muslim terrorists that have been taught to kill from day one, they are taught to use all kinds of weapons and they are taught to become a MARTYR and he will receive his 72 virgins minus his physical body in the next world. They actually believe all this and their goal is to die in battle against the infidel. We are going to have to face reality and understand that unless we are prepared to die to defend our country and the constitution of the United States we can not win.

There can never be a negotiated peace settlement unless there is a defined loser in a war. We have some superb soldiers in the armed forces of the United Stated but having an all volunteer army many of the troops joined for the wrong reasons such as benifits and education. Our true warriors are among the elite forces that are in our armed forces. I understand about many of these things as I have seen a great deal as I am an ole bird at this point in time. Going to a wonderful ranch for the private citizen to be trained to run all these courses can never hurt, but they can never teach you to have the "MENTAL" mindset you will need to do what is necessary when the chips are down.

I have been fortunate to know many of these type of people. In my youth I met people that I did not like but I respected their ruthlessness and its hard for me to describe. I will try and give you some insight about these people, My own Grandfather was a Russian in the Army of the Czar, he was a very brutal man than never had a kind word for me or anyone else. When I was 15 years old I met a man in his 20's that was in the Hitler youth corp. he was just mean and just because of boredom he shot 6 chickens one day for no reason at all, we were on a farm. I used to hand fight this guy for fun but he was so brutally strong, he was taught by the Nazi's. He was a NAZI.

To mention fighting with your hands most of you do not know that you can not hardly hold on to a real street fighter by grabbing his skin or his arm or his leg, the only way to hold some one for sure is with their clothing. I could tell you a great deal about this but that is not where I want this commentary to go. You must grap clothing to take a person where you want.

The real true Warriors of this world are as I mentioned a select group of Americans and also the British SAS and I would include the Israeli Commando's and the most lethal believe it or not are the Russian Spetznatz. These people think nothing of doing what has to be done, some could cut your throat and then have lunch as it means nothing. ITS THE MINDSET I AM TALKING ABOUT. This is what it will take to survive in a world gone mad. I have left out another of excellent groups like the Gurkhas, and maybe the French Foreign Legion's select commandos.

I am trying to wake you up into reality, as these people do not start talking about the caliber wars like the BS on these forums. They can kill a person with a fork or a pen or a handgun of any kind. I could tell you now that one of the most lethal weapons is paper if you understand what to do with it and where to strike. I no longer sell these non metallic weapons because they are too lethal. You can do a search on www.google.com
on NON METTALIC EDGED WEAPONS.

I think your selection of your supplies are very critical, but its not the answer. You may think that you carry an exotic caliber that will drop any attacker, but if you confront a true warrior with the MINDSET I am talking about he will put you on ice before you know what happened. Its not like the movies where everything is practiced over and over again until the director gets it right. In a survival encounter you will not have time to think, it must come natural, your MINDSET instincts must be instant or you will be planted and you will not even know what caliber took you out, does it really matter ??

I am trying to have you understand that the average american that has been brought up in a decent family does not stand a chance against these hardened warriors that just want to kill. We must train our mind for this new conflict that is coming. How can you expect the average 9 to 5 schmuck that comes home to watch the grass grow understand the other side of the coin. These would be tough guy that shoot paper must always remember that paper does not shoot back. Of course you must train some what, using paper targets but that is a drop in the bucket of what you must learn.

I once saw a Mafia man named Joey Gallo beat the hell out of a woman on the street in broad daylight and not one person tried to help her. I was a young kid and lived right up the street from him. I saw Police cars ride by when they were getting out of hand and the Cops just kept going minding their own business, I was there.

I think that now you have the opportunity to prepare for hard times and this must include your MINDSET. I suggest you talk with some of our elite soldiers and everyone must vist a morgue for reality to set in. I did not enjoy watching the beheading videos, but I had to watch it because I must understand what my enemy wants to do to me. go to www.michaelsavage.com
Do not let any young people watch these videos, they are quite disturbing.

Its time for all of you look at your very survival through different eyes, forget the BS on these forums, AND WHAT WOULD YOU BUY ?? WHAT CALIBER IS BEST ?? WHAT DO YOU CARRY, PLEASE SHOW PICS.... ITS ALL BS....... ITS ALWAYS BULLET PLACEMENT... YOU HESITATE YOU GET BURIED...if you are lucky...

I just can not deal with the stupidity. I was in a house party in South Florida when I was much younger and some guy pulled a big folding knife on me and the point of the knife he was holding was maybe 1/4 of an inch away from my stumach. We were in a crowded Kitchen. My blood pressure was sky high but I kept quiet until he put the knife away and I stepped and kicked him in the groin instantly very hard. Had I not kept my composure I would have been stabbed. When things happen, they go down very quickly.

ALLEN MOSS vs. BRILEY

www.truthaboutparts.blogspot.com

MUST SEE MOSS VS. BRILEY

I realize that I often go back to the very same subject wanting you to get ready for Hell. Our time is limited as for preparing for the inevitable. As per Bible prophecy of which I read daily and apply it to our choices for survival we are getting down to the wire. Those that have no interest can leave this blogger now. Unless you own a gun, you will become a victim as what is coming is pre ordained whether you want to believe it or not.

When I was a kid in Brooklyn I remember gas prices were about 10 cents per gallon. I never owned a car when I was even permitted to drive as I made 12 dollars a week and with my tips I averaged a total of $20.00 as I worked in a butcher shop after school for three years. I always had a few dollars in my pocket because that was all I ever needed. This is a world that is going to crash and I see misery coming everywhere. It does not matter what religion that you are because you are all waiting for the Messiah. One religion thinks its the second coming of Christ and the Muslims are waiting for the Mahdi and the Jews are waiting for the Moshiac. Its all one G-D they are waiting for and in the meantime lets get back to here and now.

First let me remind you that everyone involved with starting Christianity was a Jew. There are 6 billion people on this planet at this time and there are only 12 million Jews left in the entire world.

I want you to look at survival guns and accessories in a practical point of view. I do not have to take my time every week and try and talk some sense into you but if I can save a few lives it will all have been worth my effort. I honestly believe that you must have a high capacity 9mm pistol and at least 10 magazines for it. Having more than one high capacity handgun is better. Now I am talking about a survival handgun, one that your wife can operate the slide so that narrows it down to two different models for me. One would be the Beretta 92FS and the other would be the Glock 17.

I have no doubt in my mind that when Iran is hit all hell is coming to the free world and you alone will be responsible for your own safety and that of your family. This is no time to experiment with hard to find guns or calibers. Listen to me cause I have no doubt in my mind that this government will have to declare Marshall Law and ban the sale of guns and ammo over nite for our own safety. You must have a caliber that will not only be lethal but be easy to get and you can use to barter with.

There is no other answer in my mind than quality 9mm ammunition. I am not saying your 1911 pistol is not good but see if your wife or family members can operate the slide easily. I doubt that they can, so you want a universal handgun that will be able to be used by everyone in your house hold. I am only an extremist in defence of our liberty and our very survival. I read my Bible every nite but that has nothing to do with our present course of all out war which I see on the horizon. There is no way out of this mess.

I think you need to get your supplies now or at least buy a little every week. Not many of us have enough money to get everything we want. Especially me, I am semi retired and have a limited income that I do the best I can with. You can buy two Glocks for the price of some of the other handguns out there, their magazines are cheaper and the pistol is ugly but so what. It works very well from day one and parts are readily available. I would not trade my Glock for anything because I never have to worry whether it will work.

As long as I keep it clean and use good ammunition I will not have a problem. If you are hung up on 38 super or 9x23 or whatever, just remember that I gave you ample warning. You will wind up with a paper weight if our enemies carry out half their threats against us. The average American has no understanding of how viscous our enemies are. They have not seen the be heading of innocent people. They do not even know who our secretary of State is or other officials as they are mostly 9 to 5 schmucks that go home and play with their game boys and Ipods or whatever.

I am not getting into the politics of this or any other government, its beyond my control and I am only concerned about reaching those that are willing to take me serious. Did any of you ever read the prophecies from the elders of the american indian tribes ? I doubt that you even know what I am talking about and if you want I will post it for you to read about their predictions.

There are many decent reliable guns and calibers and it can not stop there. I suggest you get all your family members a police whistle to wear around your neck and theirs, because how long do you think you can yell for help when a simple quality five dollar whistle can bring you help. I have told you all this before but time is running out and either you listen now or its too late.

Once the sale of guns is shut down, do you have any idea how hard it will be to buy a $450.00 Glock for that same price. Do you have any idea what an inexpensive box of 9mm cartridges will cost you if there are no stores that are opened anymore to sell them to you.

CONTINUED...

A warrior that will survive must have the "MINDSET" for survival, if you do not understand this, your chances of survival are very slim. Its very hard to compete with people that want to die in order to get their reward of 72 virgins. Its not possible for a clean cut all American boy to understand this type of logic, after all hes brought up to watch BIG BIRD on Sesame Street and play MONOPOLY and to play with his computer and if hes lucky maybe he played COWBOYS AND INDIANS as a child, but not likely in the young generation of today.

Young people in America do not have shooting teams in their high school like I did, today it would be panic city. In Brooklyn of the 50's I used to carry my rifle in a soft zippered case with hundreds of rounds of ammunition on me and I would take the Subway to the Manhattan School of Firearms which was a range in New York City. I was never stopped by anyone and I usually went alone as I was about 15 or 16 years old. No Police or Conductor of the train or anyone on the train ever said one word to me and they all knew it was a rifle case.

Try that today and you would have 6 swat teams after you. This is all true and I grew up with my cousin in Brooklyn and I went to Florida and he went to Israel, where he still lives today. He was in the Military over there and he now takes a bus everyday in Israel. I recently asked him if he had a handgun and he said NO. I asked him why not and he said he can barely afford his rent. This is all true and most of you do not know that 30% of the people in Israel live below the poverty line. Its the old story, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Everytime he goes on a bus (which is daily) he looks at everyones clothing to see if they are bulked up with maybe a bomb vest and or baggage that does not fit the scene. Hes not affraid to ride these Israeli buses but he knows what could happen instantly as I have discussed it with him many times. The reason that he copes daily without any reservations is his devout faith in G-D. He knows that all hell is coming to his country and like he told me, he and they will deal with it. The Orthodox jews in general are not affraid of what is coming.

How can you take Americans that have lived a soft life and have no idea that these young Arab children are not brought up to play with Monopoly or other games like the kids here. They are brought up with hatred and an AK-47 to play with and learn how to use at an early age. They have the MINDSET to die for their cause and become a marter and make their family proud. So you see we are dealing with an entire generation that wants to see all of us dead. I believe KORAN means SUBMISSION. You either submit or they will behead you.

Our job should it come to all out war is to arrange a meeting with them and their 72 virgins. I am not thrilled to see how this war has been conducted so far, the American B52's sit idly by in Diego Garcia while our boys go house to house and lose arms and legs. To me this is very wrong and we could just level the place and make it a parking lot, who cares about collateral damage when our soldiers are so much more important to our survival. We should never put our troops in this type of situation when air power can make some very nice parking lots.

So it boils down to your MINDSET as well as your supplies. Its now your call on how you want to proceed because I can bring you to a water well but I can not make you drink. I am on your side, I do not want this to escalate but I am convinced that there is no other way.

When I started to write my bloggers I think it was Mr. Wenger that asked me how will I ever be able to keep up with all this on a daily basis. I have done the best I could to help all of you even as my health declines there is never any QUIT in me. I have almost been killed many times and have seen the best and the worst but I lived in the best of times and I will fight to preserve our way of life till the end.

Having my 9mm high capacity handguns and plenty of magazines and trying to buy a little more survival supplies all the time I will never give up. I try to think ahead all the time such as medication and extra eye glasses and the lists goes on and on. For those that can afford some night vision look into the new digital imaging as its much clearer then Gen. 1 night vision tubes. I believe BUSHNELL offers some new models and they run about $200.00 these new systems use a display like a digital camera.

I will continue to help the decent people out there and will always fight for your rights so that you do not get ripped off, but that you must know what the best products there are on the market to buy. Should you need to email me you can use the following email tjacobson@houston.rr.com

Even though I do less work then years ago, my work and attention to detail is second to none.

HOW TO STOP CUTS FROM BLEEDING
Cutman
From Wikipedia

Cutman Dave Tenny working on Cathy "Wildcat" Collins during a boxing bout.
A cutman is a person responsible for preventing and treating physical damage to a fighter during a
full contact match such as a boxing, kickboxing or mixed martial arts bout. Cutmen typically handle swelling, nosebleeds and lacerations (commonly called cuts). The rules of full contact sports stipulate that these injuries can be a cause for premature match stoppage, counting as a loss to the injured fighter. The cutman is therefore essential to the fighter, and can be the decisive factor in the outcome of the match.

The compensation for cutmen varies, generally staying within 1-3% of fighter's
prize money.[1] For many fighters on a low budget, the cutman duties are performed by their corner-person. While most athletic commissions require cutmen to be licensed, there is usually no formal training or certification required. Most cutmen learn their trade through apprenticeship and self-education.

Cutmen should not be confused with fight doctors, whose task is closer to that of neutral
referees, providing medical advice and monitoring the safety of both fighters in accordance with regulations or law.

Treatments
Before the fight, cutmen will usually put
petroleum jelly on the most likely areas of impact, especially the fighter's face, making the skin more elastic and slippery, and hence less likely to tear. It is not considered good practice to use large amounts of petroleum jelly, since during the fight it is likely to end up on the gloves of the opponent, and later in the eyes of the fighter if the opponent lands a punch close to their eyes. Cutmen might also wrap fighter's hands, which helps protect the bones and tendons.
During the fight, cutmen try to control any swelling or bleeding during the breaks between rounds. Since cutmen are not doctors, and have a very short period of time to treat the fighter, their treatments are limited to advanced
first aid treatments with over-the-counter medication.

Swelling
Swelling is usually associated with facial hematomas (commonly called a mouse), and is traditionally reduced by applying firm pressure with a chilled enswell or an ice bag on top of the area of trauma. Since the time between rounds is very short, cutmen try to apply the enswell right away and hold it as long as they can. A common mistake is to use the enswell to push on the swollen area in an attempt to disperse it or move it into a safer place such as away from the eye. Such treatment will not move the hematoma, and may disrupt the microscopic blood vessels under the skin thus causing an increase in bleeding and enlargement of the swelled area.

Cuts (lacerations)
Cuts are the primary focus of the cutman because unless the bleeding is stopped promptly, the ring side physician may stop the fight, declaring that the injured fighter has lost the match. The most common area of the face to be cut is around the eye. Cuts are treated by applying a cold towel to clean and simultaneously cool the area of the cut, hence causing a decrease in blood flow. A cotton swab soaked in
adrenaline hydrochloride is applied with pressure to decrease blood flow even more, and Avitine is put into the cut to coagulate the blood. A cutman might also cover the area with petroleum jelly to prevent further damage.

Nosebleeds
Most nosebleeds occur near the opening of the nose. To stop the bleeding, cutmen generally apply a cotton swab soaked in adrenaline hydrochloride to the damaged area, while simultaneously pressing the nostril against the cotton swab with the other hand. Once the bleeding has stopped, the area is chilled with an ice pack or an enswell. The fighter is usually instructed to breathe through the mouth during the treatment.

A
broken nose is a more difficult case, and can be detected by a heavy flow of dark colored blood from the nose. The bleeding is generally treated the same way; however, the fighter is usually instructed to avoid swallowing blood as it may induce nausea or vomiting, and the cutman is more likely to consult the ringside physician to ensure the fighter's safety.

Equipment

The enswell is the most characteristic tool of the cutman's trade.
Enswell, sometimes called end-swell, stop-swell or no-swell, is a small piece of metal with a handle. It is traditionally kept on ice and is used to cool the area of a
bruise or a cut by applying direct pressure to decrease the blood flow to the area.
Cotton swabs are used to apply medications to the fighter's wounds. While some cutmen use ready-made cotton swabs, other make their own.[1] It's been suggested that the common cutmen practice of keeping cotton swabs behind their ears or in their mouths is unsanitary.[2]

Ice packs are used to cool bruises, cuts and sprains, and to keep the enswell cold.
Vaseline (petroleum jelly) is put on the cuts and most likely areas of impact to make the skin more elastic and slippery, and hence less likely to tear. Some cutmen cover cuts with homemade salve containing a mix of petroleum jelly and adrenaline chloride, so that adrenaline keeps getting applied to the wound during the bout.

Gauze pads are used to dry cuts.
Latex gloves are worn by the cutman to limit the fighter's exposure to infectious matter, as well as limiting the cutman's exposure to blood.

Medications
Cutmen used to create their own medications, and the recipies were passed from masters to apprentices as trade secrets. Today, the use of various medications in sports is highly controlled, and most cutmen use only two or three standard medications from the list below.
Adrenaline hydrochloride (also adrenaline chloride, usually a 1:1000
epinephrine solution)
Applied topically to decrease blood flow. This is arguably the most common medication used by cutmen.
[2]

Avitene Flour by Davol, Inc is effective in controlling arterial bleeding.
Avitene (microfibrillar collagen hemostat)
Coagulant used for bleeding cuts. It works best when the surface is dry.[3] The treatment includes covering the affected area with Avitene, and applying moderate pressure with dry gauze.

Thrombin
Coagulant used when the blood is removed and the surface is dry.
Surgicel and Gelfoam
Two other substances also used for coagulation, although less frequently than Avitene or Thrombin.
Monsat solution, Monsels solution
Widely outlawed lead-based homeostatics. These solutions quickly stop the blood flow by destroying the
tissues surrounding the cut, and generate severe scar tissue. The application of a lead based homeostatic can be spotted by a dark ring of damaged tissue around the cut

Please Note:

I felt it was important to add this opinion of mine which is as follows. I personally believe that many of the people that post opinions of items and about specific details about specific brands and models of handguns are using an assumed name and they are working in the upper management of that particular company. These are positive comments that are designed to find favor with the product they are talking about.

I have had this opinion for a very long time. I do not believe its the $10.00 per hour employee but it is the upper management of their respective company. I believe this is all designed to show you how satisfied they are with the with their product to increase sales. I have always believed all this. Of course it is my opinion only and if you think about what I am saying it all makes sense.

I believe the actual factory worker knows how really screwed up their factory operation is but they are in no position to discuss this on an open forum because they have to support their families and they must keep their income.

I HAVE DECIDED TO FINALLY STATE MY OPINION ABOUT THE BS ON THESE FORUMS AND THESE CHAT ROOMS. IT IS VERY EASY FOR A COMPUTER PERSON TO USE A FICTICOUS NAME, CHECK THEIR PROFILES AND THEY TELL YOU NOTHING. THIS IS MY OPINION ONLY. See Disclaimer below...

MUST SEE NOW

ALLEN MOSS VS. BRILEY

http://www.truthaboutparts.blogspot.com/
..........................................................

I am going to write about my field of expertise which is Attention to Detail. Most current Gunsmiths and or Pistolsmiths do not have a clue what I will discuss here and now. The older generation of craftsmen all knew about attention to detail and like me it became an obsession. Think of a watch maker and or a jeweler or a draftsman who practiced writing the alphabet a thousand times and writing each and every letter over and over and over until every letter was perfect. This has become a lost art with the current generation as everything is either a throw away or is guided by profits.

For example if you look at the executives of the larger gun companies like Smith and Wesson as an example their President and CEO has a background totally unrelated to guns of any kind. These type of people are in marketing and sales in order to be able to steer the company in the right direction down Benjamin Franklin Blvd. where they keep the green money rolling in. They not only do not know about guns and or quality, its questionable if they even care about a gun. I am not trying to single out Smith and Wesson because I see all these companies going down the very same road.

When I look at the internals of any handgun I see every mark made by hand and or by machines, sometimes I use magnification. When some of these wannabbeee gunsmiths work on your handgun or rifle they may be using a Norton medium stone, well they just do not have what it takes to understand that they are doing more damage using a stone like this that leaving the parts or frame with its original finish. If you take a 30 power micro scope and look at a part that your genius gunsmith has just stoned you will be horrified to see the damage he or she has done. This is not always detectable by the naked eye.

Can this be fixed, not hardly. These people that are working on guns and gun parts have no idea what severe damage that these inferior stones can and are doing. They would not spend the kind of money for very high quality stones like I have in the past. Many people go hog wild not only with their cheap stones but also with their dremel tools and they are counting on the fact that no one will ever scrutinize their interior work. Working on actions like I have always done is totally different than using a milling machine or even a lathe.

The stories that I can tell you are endless with what I see. When a person stones a part of any kind that does not mean he is smoothing it out or refining it, it can all be seen starting with 20 power magnification and go up to 30 at times. I have seen countless revolvers butchered because they were stoned by a person that just did not understand anything about Attention to Detail. They just do not get it, they are from this current generation of throw aways. Very few stones made in this world are even capable of holding a 90 degree angle.

Sadly most of the old world craftsmen are either in cemetaries or nursing homes, their era is over. My era is coming to a slow end also as I do limited trigger work at this time. My work and my attention to detail is better now than ever, I just can not do very much each weak because of declining health. Just to show you how these gun companies really deserve what they get, I offered to tell the owner of a specific company whose product has become third rate, all I said to him was call me and I will help you for "FREE" - I am still waiting for his call that will most likely never come. But when he goes out of business he will be crying the blues, he really deserves what he has gotten himself into.

There is no way to explain to people of the kids coming up what Attention to Detail really means. I can just watch a person fold a letter before stuffing it into an envelope and learn how careful they are. You can look at a persons handgun and see how they keep it and understand that they simply do not get it. I can watch a person sharpen their knife and see how badly they scratch the blade. You can watch some one put stamps on a letter and see if they are really careful and they take some pride in what they do with their prized possessions. You can watch a person prepare cases for reloading and learn a great deal, or look at the finished bullet.

I do not want to get off track here as I want to stay with the people that actually work on your guns. Its your choice who you allow to do that. There is no licensing criteria to become a gunsmith, any schmuck that gets an FFL (federal firearms license) that is class 01 can hang out a shingle and declare him or her a master gunsmith, its all BS. The problem lies when you entrust your life to a schmuck that does not have a clue what he is doing, as long as he gets your money. NEVER LET ANY COMPANY EMPLOYEE WORK ON YOUR GUN WHEN HE GETS PAID BY COMMISSION ONLY. This is my personal opinion

I am going to tell you a true story that happened about 20 years ago. I was in a gun shop and I was friends with the (owner) gunsmith. He put a SW revolver in my left hand and told me that that was his $75.00 trigger job. He then put an identical revolver in my right hand and he said this was his $45.00 trigger job. I looked at both very carefully and they were identical in feel and pull. I asked the gunsmith (owner) what the difference was and he laughed and took both revolvers away. I knew his worker there very well, also another gunsmith and I am the one that worked on the internals of this hired gunsmith's personal handguns.

I got him alone and asked him what was the difference between those two revolvers the owner placed in my hands. This man looked around to make sure no one was looking and said
"THE KIND OF CAR THE CUSTOMER DRIVES" meaning if the customer drove up in a Cadillac it was $75.00 but if he drove up in an old beat up truck it was $45.00 - This is a true story..

CONTINUATION

I personally believe that you can not teach a person to have the attention to detail as in the old world. In this computer age people just do not have the hand skills that are required to do superb detailed work anymore like an engraver or a manual draftsman. That era is long gone, now its get thru the job as quickly as possible and if these current gunsmiths take in work they can not perform, they just sub it out WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE. They will most likely never tell you that the barrel you wanted was installed by another person. They just don't care, they only care about the money.

FOLLOW THE MONEY TRAIL AND YOU WILL LEARN MORE THAN YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW. Most everyone in this current world is just interested in either oil, power or money. The craftsmen we have always admired are almost gone to the next world. Gone are the wonderful S&W revolvers of the 60's, gone are the excellent Walthers that were made in Germany, gone are all the people that cared. OF COURSE there are a few left but they are getting older and their time is almost up. DO NOT BELIEVE THE BS IN THE PUBLICATIONS, ITS ALL ABOUT ADVERTISING MONEY AND FUTURE SALES.

DO YOU THINK A FACTORY WILL ALLOW A WORKER TO SPEND 8 HOURS FINE TUNING YOUR HANDGUN OR STIPPLING YOUR FRAME, ITS ALL BS, TIME IS MONEY. GET REAL. THE FACTORY OWNERS AND MANAGERS WATCH THE WORKERS AND THE TIME THEY SPEND. IF YOU ARE LIMITED IN TIME TO A LOW WAGE BEGINNER SMITH, WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT ?? THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT ATTENTION TO DETAIL EVEN MEANS.

MI6 confirms bin Laden's nukes

Pakistani scientists advising on weaponization

Publishing Date: 29.04.06 18:02
MI6, Britain's secret intelligence service, has identified six Pakistani scientists working in Iran's nuclear bomb program who have been "advising al-Qaida on how to weaponize fissionable materials it has now obtained."

MI6 and the International Atomic Energy Agency believe the scientists have played a major role in enabling Iran to be "well advanced in providing uranium enriched materials for nuclear bombs," said Alexander Cirilovic, a nuclear terrorism expert in Paris.

Both high-level MI6 and CIA sources have confirmed the scientists would only have been allowed to assist al-Qaida with the authority of Iran's unpredictable President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The revelation comes at a time when Washington has increased pressure on Tehran to give up its nuclear weapons program.

The scientists worked for Dr. A.Q. Khan, the "father of the Islamic bomb," who is now under house arrest in Pakistan after confessing he had provided both Iran and North Korea with details of how to make their own nuclear bombs.

The MI6 report to other intelligence services followed bin Laden's threats last week to unleash a new wave of terror - with Britain and the United States his prime targets.

Recently, from his lair in north Pakistan, bin Laden boasted that "al-Qaeda did not find it difficult to obtain the weapons grade material. We have contacts in Russia with other militant groups. Enough material to make a tactical nuke is available for £15 million."

Former CIA operative David Dastych, a G2B contributor and one of the agency's experts on nuclear terrorism, said: "The traffic in nuclear materials is ongoing and growing."

Bin Laden's material is hidden somewhere in the mountain fastness between Iran and Afghanistan.

Its proximity to Iran's own nuclear facilities has made it easy for the Pakistani scientists to assist al-Qaida.

Like Khan, all are strong al-Qaida supporters. One, Bashiruddin Mahmood, was briefly arrested in 2004 by the Pakistan intelligence service.

He said he had met the Taliban leader, Mullah Omar and a high-ranking al-Qaida operative.

In his statement Mahmood admitted: "They had asked me to devise a radiological bomb. It would be constructed from nuclear material wrapped in conventional high explosive which bin Laden had obtained from a nuclear storage site in Uzbekistan. I refused to do so."

Despite a CIA request to have him transferred to the United States for further questioning, Mahmood was set free. Shortly afterward he fled from Pakistan to Iran.

With him went five other senior scientists at the Khan laboratories. They were Muhammad Zubair, Saeed Akhhter, Murad Qasim, Imtaz Baig and Waheed Nasir.
They had helped Khan to successfully detonate Pakistan's first nuclear bomb at a test site beneath the Baluchistan desert.

"Depending on the quality of the fissionable material bin Laden has obtained, the combined scientific skills would be able to create considerably more than a "dirty bomb," said Cirilovic.

Mafia helped al-Qaida smuggle uranium

Destinations for ‘dirty bombs' said to be London, Paris

Publishing Date: 29.04.06 17:41

Al-Qaida worked with the Italian Mafia through 2002 to smuggle uranium, purchased by the terrorist group in Georgia, to Europe, according to Italian prosecutor Pier Luigi Vigna and Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir, the official biographer of Osama bin Laden.

Pier VignaUranium was successfully smuggled from Georgia to Italy and also through the Congo to Europe, according to the two sources. "In 2004, in Afghanistan, some members of al-Qaida told me about a test of a 'dirty bomb' in the Valley of Pech, carried out at the time when the Taliban were still in power," reports Mir, who warns the terror group also has a secret working relationship with the Shiite mullahs in Iran.

He says the military head of al-Qaida, Saif Al-Adil, and a former spokesman, Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, the oldest son of bin Laden, Saad, are currently staying in Iran. Mir says he's certain bin Laden is planning new attacks and suspects they will be coordinated around any action directed against Iran by the U.S., Israel and other western nations.

Tehran denies it.

"Enemies think that by ... threatening us, launching psychological warfare or ... imposing embargos they can dissuade our nation to obtain nuclear technology," Ahmadinejad said in the town of Khorramdarreh, in Zanjan province."Whether enemies like it or not, Iran is a nuclear state. Obtaining nuclear technology is a national demand,"

How U.S. will hit Iran

British sources say Bush ‘significantly closer' to attack Publishing Date:

29.04.06 18:36 LONDON --

A secret crisis meeting of Britain's military and political chiefs has been told President Bush has moved "significantly closer" to launching attacks on Iran's nine nuclear plants. Both Washington and the International Atomic Energy Agency believe the facilities are now "advanced in providing uranium enrichment and plutonium materials which will be used to provide nuclear bombs." The time frame for this to happen "is within three years at the outside," the meeting was told. The Pentagon battle plans for the attack were revealed to the meeting.

Tactical Tomahawks key to attack planTactical Tomahawk cruise missiles would be launched from U.S. Navy ships and submarines in the Gulf to target Iran's air defense systems at the nuclear installations. The updated Tomahawks have an onboard facility that allows them to be reprogrammed while in-flight to attack an alternative target once the initial one is destroyed. Each has also a "loitering" capability over a target area to provide damage assessment through its on-board TV camera.

U.S. Air Force B2 stealth bombers, each equipped with eight 4,500-pound bunker-busting bombs, would fly from Diego Garcia, the isolated US Navy base in the Indian Ocean, the Whiteman USAF base in Missouri, and the USAF base at Fairford in Gloucestershire. Each meter-long bomb of hardened steel can penetrate 6 meters of concrete. There would be no ground-force follow-up attacks. The meeting was called after Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told Foreign Secretary Jack Straw during her recent "feel good" visit to England that "if all else fails, we are prepared to go it alone or with the assistance of our good friend, Israel."

In Tel Aviv, officials of Israel's new centrist-left coalition government, led by Ehud Olmert's Kadima Party, said they remained committed to supporting a U.S. attack. For Straw, Rice's privately-delivered blunt warning undermined his own reported public statements that an attack on Iran was "not going to happen - now or probably ever." An official who was with Straw at the time of Rice's warning said: "She made it very clear military action was inevitable unless Tehran backed down."

Held in the monolithic Ministry of Defense building in Whitehall, the meeting had been ordered by Prime Minister Tony Blair to establish the level of Britain's own military involvement in such an attack. It was also asked to assess the political consequences the strike would have for the United Kingdom - including the increased threat of terrorist attacks on the country - its relationship with the European Union and the effect on the role of Coalition forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. The last time such a meeting was held was in March, 2003, on the eve of the war with Iraq.

The meeting was chaired by General Sir Michael Walker, the chief of the defense staff. Lt. General Andrew Ridgeway and the chief of army defense intelligence and Major-General Bill Rollo, the assistant chief of the general staff, flanked Walker. Senior Foreign Office officials were led by William Ehram, director-general of the FO defence office, and David Landesman, head of the nuclear counter-proliferation department, Sir John Scarlett, head of MI6 and Eliza Manningham-Buller also had seats around the mahogany conference table.

Senior officials from Downing Street completed the group. Effectively they were the core of the Blair government "War Cabinet." Before the meeting, Straw had flown with Rice to Baghdad to try and resolve another crisis which could affect when an Iran attack happened: the pressing issue of who governed Iraq. In Baghdad Rice had said that "we need to get this settled as soon as possible." The words at the end of her press conference were not developed. But in London they were seen as an indication, a senior Foreign Office source said, "that Washington wants to get the Iraqi agenda off the top spot so it can concentrate on dealing with Iran.

Bush is determined to destroy those nuclear sites." The Whitehall meeting was given the latest intelligence on Iran's current ballistic missile capability:

•· A total of 85 S-300 air defence missiles. Provided by China, they would be effective against U.S. fighter-bombers. Less so against the multi-defense systems of the Tactical Tomahawks.

•· X-55 cruise missiles. Numbers believed to be no more than 40. Estimated range of over 1,000 miles. Situated close to the border with Turkmenistan.

•· Shabtai-3. A version of rocket provided by China. Exact numbers unknown. But believed to be no more than 26. Based in sites in southern Iran. Well within range of Israel.

•· Shahab-4. Currently being developed near Natanz, south of Tehran. Will not come on line until 2008. Each will have a range of 18,000 miles - able to strike against anywhere in Europe and the United States. The present missiles can be adapted to fire from Iran's 25 missile craft and its three frigates. None can be launched from Iran's air force of 200 hundred old aircraft: Tomcats, MIG-29 Fulcum and Phantoms. Iran's 500,000 army of regular and conscripts are poorly led and trained. Most of their equipment comes from the former Soviet Union. The Blair "War Cabinet" meeting concluded:

•· Apart from the Blair Government who else will support attack on Iran? Definitely Israel. Its three Dolphin Class nuclear submarines are in the Gulf to help target Iran's air defences at the nuclear facilities. The submarines are currently linked by satellite to naval HQ at Tel Aviv. In turn that is linked to the Pentagon.

•· Who else would support the attack? Diplomatic support would probably come from Australia, Poland and possibly Germany, France and Spain. Less certain is the role of other European countries.

•· How high-risk is the attack strategy? It could trigger devastating reprisals against 8,500 British troops based in Iraq and the 3,500 troops due to arrive in Afghanistan by May, 2006. Both countries have strong religious and political links to Iran. It could also see Washington having to re-plan withdrawal of its troops from Iraq. It would also certainly lead to Iran cutting off oil supplies to the West. It could bring about confrontation with China and Russia that would inevitably destabilise the region - and probably beyond. It would increase the probability of suicide attacks against Israel - and all nations that supported the attack.

•· Finally, there is no guarantee that the U.S.-led attack would destroy all the country's facilities. MI6 told the meeting that, apart from the known eight identified targets, there are other secret facilities in Iran that have yet to be fully identified. Given all this, when will the attack take place?

No date yet fixed. But if Iran continues to maintain its bellicose attitude and ignores demands made by the UN, the Bush administration will launch military action, either later this year or early in 2007. But certainly not later than the run-up to Bush's final year in office in 2008. What are the present mission plans? It is two-phased. First U.S. and probably Israeli cruise missiles will destroy defenses around targets.

Second, B2 Stealth bombers will hit nuclear plants with bunker-busting bombs. Total mission time in target areas: probably eight hours. What are the present targets? Saghand: Mining operation set to begin later this year, yielding 50-60 tonnes of uranium annually.

Ardkan: Ore is purified to produce uranium ore concentrate known as yellowcake. Gehine: Mine and milling facility. Isfahan: Yellowcake cleansed of impurities and converted to uranium hexafluoride gas. Natanz: Enrichment site which can be used to produce weapons grade uranium. Tehran: Research reactor and radioactive waste storage.

Bushehr: Russian-built light water reactor. Arak: Heavy water research reactor. Anarak: Nuclear waste storage site. Apart from its own intelligence briefing, what external analysis did the meeting consider?

Professor Paul Rogers, author of the Oxford Research Group's report on Iran: "A real possibility of military conflict. The immediate consequence could do serious damage to Iran's nuclear program, but that would be deceptive. The Americans do not have the troops for a regime change and an attack would strengthen the Iranian regime, spark another oil crisis and could encourage the Iranians to go hell for leather for nuclear weapons." Dr. Rosemary Hollis, the research director at the Chatham House think-tank:

"There is so much opposition that I don't see an attack as imminent." Richard Perle, chairman of the Pentagon's Defence Policy Board from 2001 to 2003: "Whether Iran's nuclear weapons program ends with a whimper or a bang is up to the Iranians. If the UN does its job, by blocking Iran's nuclear weapon ambitions, it may be possible to avoid a more kinetic solution." Dr. Olivia Bosch, a former weapons inspector in Iraq:

"The rhetoric is disproportionate to the capability that Iran has." Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran: "I do not agree with foreign military intervention. However, if the international community and the Security Council hesitate in adopting a firm policy on Iran, the regime would obtain the only thing it needs to acquire nuclear weapons, namely time.

Then we would be facing an Islamic fundamentalist regime, the leading state sponsor of terrorism, armed with nuclear weapons. This would make war inevitable."
