ו כֹּה, אָמַר יְהוָה, וְנָפְלוּ סֹמְכֵי מִצְרַיִם, וְיָרַד גְּאוֹן עֻזָּהּ; מִמִּגְדֹּל סְוֵנֵה, בַּחֶרֶב יִפְּלוּ-בָהּ--נְאֻם, אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה. 6 Thus saith the LORD: they also that uphold Egypt shall fall, and the pride of her power shall come down; from Migdol to Syene shall they fall in it by the sword, saith the Lord GOD.
ז וְנָשַׁמּוּ, בְּתוֹךְ אֲרָצוֹת נְשַׁמּוֹת; וְעָרָיו, בְּתוֹךְ-עָרִים נַחֲרָבוֹת תִּהְיֶינָה. 7 And they shall be desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities shall be in the midst of the cities that are wasted.

President Mubarak puts in an appearance

In his first public appearance in four days of violent protests against his rule, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said after midnight Friday, Jan. 28, he would not resign. He had sacked his cabinet, would form a new one Saturday and promised democratic reforms. President Obama then called him to tell him he must deliver on reforms and give up violence. Mubarak's speech showed he had bowed to US terms for his survival and defied the protesters' demands for his resignation.
